Standards seem to have changed.
Booked this hotel based on past Sheridan experiences, now lacking. Coming in late night at LAX where I was reassured a hotel shutter would be available outside the airport every 10-30 minutes - no show when it came to the Sheridan Gateway shuttle, instead the Four Points shuttle generously helped me get to my hotel. Turning up late with no porters to assist with luggage was disappointing and reception being cold, stoic and just doing the job could have been better. Wifi was not explained correctly so didn’t have access, tried phoning reception on the room phone but kept dropping out. Went to have a shower before retiring - no shower caps (to avoid wet hair in bed) and the shower was cold for the first ten minutes until the hot water came up to the 7th floor, not nice to go to bed cold. Disappointed there are no slipper or robes any longer. The bed was comfortable and flat feather pillows provided (yay!) and curtains did block out the light. Mini bars seem to also be discontinued. The choice of teas and coffee is limited to Starbucks only. No bottled filters water available in the room. The air conditioning unit was obviously old and made a loud clunky hum noise all the time. Then staff were talking loudly in the corridors and other rooms (near yelling to each other in conversation) at early hours - I maybe only got 4 hours sleep before the chatter started and continued until check out at 11. I understand staff need to feel happy and connected at work, however ‘seen but not heard’ would be a good hotel policy because not everyone is checking out at a hotel that accommodated people from the airport between flights (like shift workers) that greatly need their sleep. And not everyone wants to hear about their personal life experiences and challenges. I’ve decided I’d prefer spending my money (and it wasn’t a cheap stay per night) somewhere else from here on - this hotel chain has lost its desire to serve.
