We had booked south but got moved to north. Not a problem as we got told the shortcut from north to south to continue our journey the next day. Very helpful and friendly staff. The room was spotlessly clean with everything you need for an overnight stay. Our room was on the first floor. The building is set back from road and lorry park which meant it was quiet and we could have the window open overnight (it was the heatwave). We would have no hesitation booking again.

Called in ad hoc for an evening pub meal after a day out. Good atmosphere even though we were first in. Staff friendly, professional and entertaining. We hadn’t booked as we thought ‘early doors’ wouldn’t be a problem. It wasn’t. Food was good with generous but not too big portions. Prices a little toppy but it is Stow-on-the-Wold. We would highly recommend dining here especially if the team working is as good as the ones on the 29th September. Well done and thank you!

The location of the hotel is very good, from the train station, closer to the 801 bus stop, go left for one minute. Our room is very beautiful, the window is the garden, but the only thing the room is lacking is that the shower head has no pylon, it can only be held by hand, and then if the shower is in a position that is relatively cramped, because the roof is tilted, the tall one may meet. Breakfast is okay, it is salty (if you order bacon).

Very satisfied, beyond my expectations. I originally thought it was a small, shabby, small hotel. I didn't expect the room was clean and elegant, the area was large enough, the facilities were complete, and the decoration of the room was typical Victorian colors and style, which was very desirable. The breakfast environment is also nice and the garden is bright. Breakfast buffet, optional part is missing, bread jam is buffet type, main food is main point. However, the amount is sufficient, which is also reasonable to prevent gluttony and waste. The only minor flaw is that this hotel has a lot of staircases and is very narrow. There is an uncle to help you when you check in, of course you have to tip. You have to move out when you check out. In short, this is a good hotel. If there is no car, it is recommended to choose a hotel that is not far from the station and is complete in all aspects.

Every person I interacted with at the Volunteer Inn was really friendly - from the young woman behind the bar who greeted me and checked me in, to the chaps in the Indian restaurant (no cooking smells in the bedrooms, as restaurant quite separate, just in case you're worried abou that!), to the lady who cooked my delicious breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was really good - real coffee, wonderfully fresh eggs and great sausages and bacon. Lots of choice for vegetarians and those just wanting cereal too. I hadn't stayed in a b&b with a shared bathroom for years, so had been a bit worried about that aspect, but it was totally fine, as the bathroom was accessed by a key and it was only shared with one other room. I felt safe and comfortable, so that was not an issue. Although I'm originally from Cheltenham, I had not been to Chipping Campden for decades - WOW! It's one of the most unspoiled Costwold towns I've seen, with the most thatched houses in one place I think I've ever seen! The villagers I spoke with were so very helpful and friendly (was on a quest for new tights for my evening biz meeting!) Looks like the town is directly on the Cotswold Way too, so I shall return with my daughter and have a good old yomp! Recommend very highly - the bedroom was simple, but clean and very comfy (the only reason I marked down to a 4 on cleanliness was because my little waste bin had not been emptied from the previous stay....feel a bit mean doing that but, well, it is important...) I can't wait to go back!
