Courtyard London City Airport

Stayed here 5 separate occasions in last 8 months or so. It’s a good hotel that conforms to Courtyard brand standards. The rooms are clean. I really like the restaurant here; the food is very high quality and the asian menu is fantastic. The staff are very friendly and try really hard. Please can we get cornflakes at breakfast; especially as we have other less obvious choices?! I will keep using this hotel for when I need it.

I ordered well in advance and the hygiene was good. The plane takes off loudly, just fine to adapt. It's a pity that I temporarily want to stay for an extra day, there is no room, and the price doubled. Had to spend the night in a living room sofa at a friend's house. I hope to have discounts and help for the guests who have lived for a few days in the future.

Everthing in the rooms and toilets, except for towels and bed linen was dirty and full of dust. The staff in reception in day shift was so unprofessional and rude. The soap dispenser in my bathroom was broken.Every single day, I asked them to repair or replace it and instead I get some liquid soap in paper cup for all my stay( 5 days). They did not renew any toilet papers or towels. When I asked them to renew it in one morning on my way to work, they said you should take it yourself to the room. I said, but i am leaving for work now! And the answer was, ”ok Ma'am, whenever you are ready!”. The last they after check out, i wanted to use the lobby WC, which was really dirty and again out of paper! I informed the reception to refill the toilet paper frame, and she brings out a roll of paper and says you should do it! I surprisingly asked: me? And the answer was, ”yes, if you want to use it!”. The breakfast area, the tables, the dishes, all dusty and dirty. All in all the worst ”Hotel” i have bin for this price! Dont waste your money there!
Holiday Inn Express London - ExCel, an IHG Hotel

Handy location for Excel - which is about 10 mins walk away Car park on site - not massive but good number of spaces - the parking payment is per 24 hrs. Make sure you enter the correct car reg etc at reception Good friendly welcome at the desk and a good room in the hotel. No noise from outside but a bit of noise from inside with noisey guests talking in the corridor a few times on saturday night. Only got the room key card to work in 1 of the 2 lifts and gave up in the end and used the stairs - its not clear why you would secure the lifts with key cards but not the stair well ? Good room - air con and a nice big bed and shower. Not much round and about for eating on a saturday night so had a pizza at the hotel bar - it was quite big ordered a 4 cheese pizza but was more like a cheese and tomato - pretty plain and ordinary - not brilliant value for money. Overall I would definately use this hotel again.

The front desk service is polite and attentive! Although the language is not fluent in communication, but the query route is patiently answered, and I also found a map for us, which is very good! Close to London City Airport, there will be a little noise when the windows are open, but it is acceptable!

An Introduction to London: UK's Vibrant Capital

London, the capital city of the United Kingdom, is situated along the famous River Thames. Known for its iconic landmarks, diverse culture, and captivating history, London offers a myriad of experiences for every traveler. Here's a fun fact: London was the first city in the world to have an underground subway system, fondly known as 'the Tube'.

Navigating Your Way to London

Most international visitors arrive via London's key airports - Heathrow, Gatwick, or Stansted. From there, trains, buses, or taxis offer convenient travel into the city. If you're not a UK citizen, it's essential to check visa requirements ahead of your trip.

While the British Pound is the official currency, most places accept major credit cards. English is the widely spoken language in London, although you'll likely hear a diverse array of languages due to the city's multicultural nature. Remember to respect local customs, such as queuing in an orderly manner, a practice taken seriously by Londoners!

When to Visit: London's Weather and Packing Tip

London experiences a temperate maritime climate. The city is known for its unpredictable weather, so packing layers and a waterproof jacket is recommended. The best times to visit London are during spring (April to June) and fall (September to November) when the weather is mild and the parks are in full bloom.
