The water pressure in the toilet is not enough, only hot water
Just this little shortcoming
The facilities and environment are very good, totally worth the money
There is billiards downstairs to play, 1 pound per game

The worst hotel I’ve EVER stayed in. Rooms filthy, full of cobwebs. Absolutely stunk. Pictures of the hotel must of been took 30years ago. Have complained but don’t seem to answer complaints. Lady on reception was very nice, poor woman was just getting complaints everytime we passed reception.

There's nothing wrong with this hotel. My room was clean and comfortable (although the TV seemed to be from another planet to it's own remote control - completely baffling). The staff are friendly and clearly take pride in looking after their guests. The check-in process seemed needlessly long-winded (took half an hour and I was the fourth person in the queue). They also don't let you check-in until 16.00 which is late compared to most hotels. The breakfast is continental, so don't expect hot food. It's unspectacular but absolutely acceptable, and to be fair, there's plenty of choice. The whole place could do with a bit of a make-over and refresh, but my B&B cost less than £100 so it's decent value at that level.

The hotel was nice basic but good value for money. Staff very pleasant.Not too far from city centre when getting on the bus. Breakfast was okay. Shower in the bathroom not good though. Room was nice but quite small but okay given we were just there for 2 nights

It says on the wall outside that the hotel was founded in 1861 and inside there's no mistaking that, but it's a clean and friendly hotel. Very convenient to Anfield (30 minute walk) and the city centre as it is well served by buses and taxis. Our room was small but functional, the shower worked fine and it was clean. Another pillow would have been nice alright and my main gripe was that the TV was on the blink. All stations had a flickering reception and pretty much unwatchable which is poor. I was only staying one night and discovered this pretty late on so no point in complaining then. Continental breakfast was fine for my needs. Having read some of the reviews here I'd say - if you want 5 star surroundings at 2 star prices then this is not the place for you but it's a decent spot to stay and I hope to use it again.

The staff at this hotel go above and beyond. I can't praise them enough for the support they gave with a medical emergency. Nothing was too much trouble
