The hotel is just opposite the train station, you can see it at a glance, the bus stop in the middle, the bus to Keukenhof stops here, very convenient, but not noisy, very quiet. The size of the room is ok, but there is not much room after the bed is placed. The bathroom is quite big, very clean, but the toilet is too strong, and the flush will splash out of the toilet.

I booked this hotel for the great location and the spa and fitness centre (advertised on their website). Since I arrived (21:15 on a Wednesday), things didn’t go that smoothly, when you get out of the train station it’s ready difficult to see where the door to the hotel is, as it’s a door for a lot of different businesses and a university (I believe) and there is no clear signage. Moreover the rotating doors to get in were blocked, so just people from inside could open them. I was lucky there was someone coming out. When checking in, I was given the key, but not explained anything about where and when the breakfast was or anything to do with the hotel amenities. I asked about the gym and I was told it was permanently closed (this was one of the main reasons for staying there). I dropped my bags and headed to the restaurant to have dinner. The kitchen closes at 22:00 (the staff told me and it’s on their website), but at 21:30, they we’re already cleaning it and just offering burgers or pizzas. The second night I went at 21:15 and they also told me the kitchen was closed. 45 minutes early! Not very professional. Luckily, a member of staff asked the cooks to prepare a salad, which to be fair very nice (even though I got charged different amounts for the same thing each night). That first night, I asked for an iron after dinner, at around 22:10 and it came at 23:00 and was told I needed to give it back before 7am as it’s the only one they had. A bit surprising for a 4 star hotel. Another deceiving thing was that the spa is not available for guests to use (you need to pay something like 17 euros to use it). It’s just the pool you can use (from 8am to 9:30am). Breakfast wasn’t that great and even though they have a fresh orange juice making machine on the side, they don’t offer it (just concentrated juice off a machine). Unfortunately, I wouldn’t come back as it’s not what I expected (plus I really value having a fitness centre when I stay in a hotel, especially if it’s advertised). I must say that the staff members were nice and helpful, but didn’t seem very experienced and the location is great.

I stayed at the Tuilip Inn in Leiden with my mam while visiting my sister. The room was spotless and very modern. We had two single beds, a tv and a very large bathroom. The room looked as though it had been recently renovated as it was spotless. The staff were lovely and friendly. They helped with any queries we had about Leiden/transport etc. The breakfast was fantastic. They had a large range of foods, so there is something for everyone. I am quite a fussy eater and I had lots of options. They had fresh fruit bowls, yoghurt, cheeses, hams, pastries, a large range of breads and hot food. There was always something to have and the staff brought out more food on a regular basis. The hotel is situated in a perfect location about 10 minute walk from the main areas. I would definitely stay here again.

I booked four rooms for myself and three guests in this hotel. They charged me one night too much due to a mix up. They were reluctant to pay me back (162,5 euro). After they finally told me that they paid me back, they told one of my guests that I hadn't paid the room (which was not true). Even though these were all their mistakes, they kept on insisting that I had to understand their point of view. I would say, get your administration system together. While the emails were polite, the contacts in person / on the phone were not. When I came home late at night, my room key didn't work; and some keys seemed to work on multiple rooms. The breakfast buffet is all prepackaged food. Not much choices for healthy food.
