The Aigli

Very loud bar with live music until 2 am every night. In the hotel information it says there is a wine bar and a garden bar but no info about the live music.And if you get a room with garden windows ( as we did) it will be impossible to sleep before 2 am. The rooms are nice and cosy but that doesn't help when there is loud live music directly outside your window. There is no reception and if you want to get in touch with anyone from the staff you get a WhatsApp phone number. But if you call no-one answers. If you text them it takes a couple of hours to get an answer.

Rooms are nice and clean and hosts are very helpfull and polite, but it is a rather weird concept of having hotel rooms around a bar with live music untill late at night. If you go to bed after midnight - 1-2 am, thats ok, if you like to fall to sleep earlier than that, it would be a problem.

We stayed a week and I can say that the experience was positive in some ways, questionable in others. Positive things: the room is cute and tastefully decorated with repurposed period furniture; the air conditioning works very well and does not disturb even if left on all night, carefully regulating the temperature; the room is cleaned and tidied up every day (which is undoubtedly necessary given the custom, terrible for us but unfortunately widespread in all the Greek islands, of having to throw dirty toilet paper in the waste bin instead of in the toilet); the staff and reception very friendly and helpful. Negative things: above all one: when we booked the room it was described as "with a garden view": a pity that the "garden" in question is actually a Cuban-Caribbean music venue full of people until late with loud music, people laughing and talking loudly, and above all very little privacy! Another thing to keep in mind: the structure is in the center of the pedestrian area of Lefkada, in a nice and suggestive alley, but if you want to rent a car it is good to know that you cannot get there, and you have to leave the car parked at least 10 minutes on foot (hoping to find a place!)

I loved my stay at the Aigli! I had a wonderful upstairs-room ('Earth'). The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and there were plenty of windows for daylight. I also enjoyed the Cuban nights in the garden. The atmosphere was relaxed. Gabriela and her daughters are great hostesses!

The hotel is a lovely restored set of old buildings with rooms set off a picturesque enclosed courtyard. Rooms are full of character and comfortable. My wife and I first stayed here in 2013 and it was peaceful and very enjoyable…… However, there is now a Cuban bar with loud music using the same courtyard until the early hours of the morning, the bedding did not fit the bed, there was no water or coffee provided in the room despite asking and having a lovely coffee pod machine. Having to telephone ‘reception’ at 0030 to ask when the music will stop to be told it says on *********** there is a Cuban bar is pretty poor! So if you like late nights/early mornings - great, however for a boutique hotel it has an identity crisis. A decision needs to be made as to whether it’s a hotel or a nightclub/late night bar! We are regular visitors to Lefkas and there are much better hotels!

1) The room was ok with some character but it was completely impossible to sleep as there is a nightclub (Cubana) right under windows of the rooms with outside very loud music up to 01:30/02:00 (rooms are not at all soundproof). 2) The owner was not nice and insulted me treating me as a thief ! Some explanation : when I booked thru *********** I of course indicated my VISA references (which were right conversely to what the owner claimed afterwards !). This is a small hotel and there is no permanent staff in it ; so when I left (it was about 08:30), I saw nobody and therefore assumed in good faith that I would be debited automatically (as is often the case with hotels booked thru *********** site). I had just walked 5 meters in the street that somebody litterally jumped on me from the house in front of the hotel on the other side of the street (apparently the family who runs the place lives there). Instead of being calm and explaining me (which he should have done when I checked in) that payment was not automatic, he shouted and insulted me treating me 'a thief' and other words I would not repeat here ! I have been travelling in 190 countries in the world (see my site at-home-everywhere.com), being in hundreds of hotels, and this is the only time where I faced this kind of situation being litterally insulted by the staff of the hotel. The owner also shouted at me that I never wore a mask in the place which is completely untrue. To summarize, I do not recommend at all this place.
