This hotel is very old, and the facilities inside are also very old. The hot water in the bath is difficult to adjust to a suitable temperature. It will be hot and cold for a while, and the heating rod in the kettle is rusted and sticky. A sticky, unidentified object, disgusting anyway.

The location of the hotel was very good and the building looked very impressive from the outside but not so inside. There was no lift to get to the first floor, only a luggage lift which would not suit disabled guests - I have painful knees and struggled with the stairs. The carpet in my room was dirty and overdue for replacement and the sash windows would not lock - one lock was missing and the other had been painted over and would not move. Both windows opened but not good from a security issue. The TV was very small and old - it only had a SCART socket so I could not plug in my HDMI Fire Stick. The bathroom could do with updating but the water pressure in the shower was good. Was not happy to discover most of the hotel has been let to fruit pickers or meat factory workers from overseas, all on four year contracts. Apparently nine rooms are for tourists. The laundry needed attention - not very clean and two of the tumble dryers (charge of $2 per session) were faulty - one with no door and another which stopped working mid-cycle leaving all my washing damp (refund given though). More power sockets are needed in there. Stayed four nights and requested clean towels after three nights but didn’t get any - apparently a communication breakdown. Good to be able to park free of charge.

Avoid at all cost. Safety was pathetic. Bedroom had numerous failures, broken bed, unsafe bunks, door ripped of its hinges in the mini fridge, water damaged bathroom. That and the hotel was full of international pickers at the local farms. Would never return. We stayed easter Monday and paid over 200 for the room.

Shocking! We booked & paid via Agoda a few weeks before 22 May 23 & all confirmed. My partner had eye surgery which took all day. We got a taxi to Cornwall Hotel & were met by itinerant fruit pickers who knew nothing about a booking, in fact, they said the hotel had been SOLD. They were able to provide us with the manager's mobile, which I called & was told that we had been moved to another, cheaper hotel. We were astonished. He said they tried 3 times to email me & call me, however, there was no record at all on my phone. We got an uber to the next hotel. A memorable experience which I would never like to repeat. I do not RATE this hotel but could not submit my review until I had given it one tick. I am seeking a full refund for the room & for the uber via Agoda.

We stayed here for one night although the hotel was well located and reasonably clean. We were the only guests who were not seasonal workers. They took over the hotel when the front desk closed at 8:00 pm. They would arrive by bus load and were yelling and screaming all night long having a party until we finally went to sleep around 3AM. They were drunk and multiple times knocked on our room door trying to come in. We cut short our stay and was refused any financial refund or compensation. We were told why did we not call the police but there were way more people than the police would be able to control and basically it was not safe so we left. Do not stay here if you want a nights sleep.

A long term labourers hotel with pick up buses idling outside the window from 4am onwards. definitely not for tourists. worn down, needs maintenance, too expensive for what you're getting in the area.

We had 3 rooms booked for a 2 night stay from 1st November which we booked through ***********. We checked into the Cornwall Hotel approximately 3.30pm on the 1st November. Upon arrival we were greeted by a pleasant staff member which gave us our keys. We all went to our rooms & were all very disappointed upon entering. The smell of filthy stained carpet , very tired & marked Furniture & the bathroom was appalling. Mould on the walls & stains that look like vomit & urine up the walls . The stainless steel shower was like a men’s urinal & was also dirty. Nothing like the pictures on the advertising. Why we didn’t just leave right then & there I don’t know. Looking for a positive I guess & hoping things would get better . We stayed in our room for approximately 1 hour before venturing out for a walk to the park followed by dinner together . We returned to the hotel at approximately 9pm . We climbed into bed shortly after & were hearing constant doors opening & closing , lots of people talking in the corridors so it was very hard to relax. Around 9.30pm very loud Alarms were going off in the corridor & the yelling & shouting began. I opened the door to see many people running down the corridors & unsavoury people yelling and swearing up & down the hall. These people were Caucasian males. This was the final straw . We got changed ,packed our bags along with our family members & went down stairs . Where we were greeted by the fire brigade & a lot of chaos, no sign of any staff at all . We went outside where we stood for the next 15 minutes or so & still no staff . No direction , no evacuation plan , nothing . We made the decision to leave the keys in the lock box on the counter. As I was waiting for my husband to bring the car to the front of the hotel to load all our luggage I saw a man behind the counter through the window from outside. I went in & asked if he was the manager in which he responded yes. I proceeded to tell him we were checking out as we were not happy with our rooms & what we had witnessed in the 1 1/2 hours of our stay there. We felt unsafe & the rooms were just filthy as well as people yelling obscenities in the corridors . He proceeded to yell at me & asked me what room numbers I had & made me feel very uncomfortable . I told him the keys were put in the box there & that we had three rooms . He moved to the front of the counter & in my face telling me I was racist & proceeded to yell at me & inciting what I believe may have been workers living in the building sitting in the foyer by saying I hated them & was racist ! This was so wrong! He was out of control and very rude. He asked what’s wrong with the room. I started telling him & he wanted me to show him. I followed him along with my elderly father up the stairs & down the corridor where he continued to yell & scream to people in the corridors that I hated them & was racist which I replied , “How dare you say that, I’ve never said such things.” I started videoing him f

We check in with the Basil Fawlty type character at the desk (minus any charm) and we’re allocated Room 7; a twin. When we entered the room we found one of the beds broken with the surface of the mattress at a distinct angle to the horizontal. How many months has this been like this? An uncomfortable night ensued. Don’t stay here.

Without of doubt, the worst place we stayed in all of Tasmania! It’s cheap but the place is gross and should be demolished! Hardly got any sleep due to paper thin walls and selfish, noisy people all around us. This place is a rat nest and should be avoided at all costs!
