Sat on the main street I drove past it without realising but once in the charm of the hotel really kicks in. Lovely welcome when I walked in, quick show to the room. Simple room lay out, very clean and enough room for 2 comfortably. Shower and Bed are a must for me and both were excellent. Great nights sleep. Food was very good, with a 2 or 3 course limited menu excellent choice, and reasonably priced. Owners very friendly and welcoming, with a lovely warm atmosphere, even on a cold Wednesday night.

We booked Dinner here on a Saturday evening - 4 of us plus our two dogs. we were shown to a great table in the bar area close to a lovely fire. Comfortably seated with plenty of space - we perused the exciting menu whilst enjoying our Aperitifs - the dogs had a bowl of water! The first thing to note is this place is fantastic with food allergies - our waitress Sophie was careful and double checked everything that we ordered . She was an absolute delightful waitress and her customer focus was spot on. The food was delicious , beautifully presented and very tasty. We booked for Sunday lunch the following day and again we were delighted. The ambience is perfect , the food delicious, but most of all the service is impeccable - the staff should be commended for their attentiveness and care.

Had pre Xmas lunch here with my wife. Second visit. Food is superb. Surroundings first class. Bedrooms wonderful. The Black Bull is a superb place to visit for a drink or for lunch. We will definitely be back for post Xmas food. Staff are so attentive and are first class

Superb stay very accommodating and welcomed us and our dog. Room was lovely- nicest linen and towels we’ve had in a hotel like this . Food was excellent and the staff really friendly and helpful. We will definitely return. I would recommend this hotel

I stayed at the Black Bull whilst up here looking after an American guest who was shooting locally. My stay was perfect the food, room and hospitality were first class. I would recommend the hotel to anyone whether it be for business or pleasure.

Stayed here for the evening whilst up for the Scottish open golf, needed some just to stay the night. The owner was as welcoming as could be, kept it open later for us and stayed for a chat and a beer, class service, rooms far better than it shows. 100% will be back

Hotel is beautifully decorated, staff very friendly, rooms very spacious with beds being extremely comfortable. Would have preferred breakfast to go for a bit longer at the weekend as we were down for a wedding. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for accommodation in this beautifully area.

We spent a couple of nights here last week and loved it. Lovely staff, lovely room, huge comfy bed. Large en-suite room - oh and these huge bath towels were so fluffy and soft. All just perfect for our stay. Lots of storage space for clothes etc. Everything spotlessly clean. We’d a meal there with family the first night which was just delicious. Portions were a good size and all very tasty. All contributed to a chilled few days - just what we needed. Would definitely recommend.

Rooms first class, beds excellent, quality food and very attentive staff. Would recommend for chill time ,bathroom with very good shower, lauder isa quiet place ,good for walking and close to other border towns
