Lapu-Lapu is a highly urbanised city in the northwestern Mactan island of the Philippines. The city was initially called Opon and was re-named in 1961 to its present name in honour of chief Lapu-Lapu. The municipality of Lapu-Lapu includes two main islands- Mactan Island and Olango Island.
