Berjaya Langkawi Resort

Tranquility of the place: Beautiful. Lack of activities: Weak. Beach: Clean. Restaurants: Diverse (Chinese, Malaysian, Thai).

First, the pros: This hotel faces the sea and is backed by mountains, with every room being an independent bungalow (some are connecting rooms, two make up one bungalow). Each bungalow is nestled in the rainforest or perched over the sea. It truly feels wild; we saw dusky leaf monkeys and hornbills from our balcony, and large monitor lizards and colugos near our door and on the way to the restaurant. The mini-bar is all-inclusive, and yes, there's beer! Langkawi SkyCab is within walking distance. Now for the cons: 1> There are various types of sea-view rooms, but not many offer great views from higher up the hill. Most sea-view rooms have their views obstructed by the first row of overwater bungalows (we stayed in room 1239, see photo). It might be better value to book an overwater bungalow directly. 2> The bedding in the room was too damp and had an odor; those with sensitive noses might find it unbearable. 3> The breakfast was genuinely unappetizing. It looked plentiful, but most dishes didn't suit Chinese palates. 4> Hotel staff use motorbikes for transport, so you're guaranteed to be woken up by motorbike noise in the morning. Dining: We tried three restaurants. I recommend the Western restaurant at B&B. For the Thai restaurant, just go for the fried rice and noodles; the Tom Yum Goong and curries were quite mediocre. A main meal typically costs 150-180 RMB per person. Additionally, I left my Bluetooth earphones at the hotel. Due to battery regulations, the hotel couldn't ship them back, so I can't comment on that service. Summary: If you're looking for a relaxing experience immersed in the sea and rainforest, go for it. If you're particular about room details and hygiene, you might want to reconsider. I'd suggest booking a luxurious overwater bungalow or suite, or a more affordable rainforest room. Avoid the sea-view rooms, as getting a good view there is a gamble.

The hygiene was on par with a domestic guesthouse – not great. Breakfast mainly consisted of flatbreads and various porridges, which I wasn't really used to. The rainforest environment, however, was fantastic, with monkeys, geckos, and all sorts of small animals that the kids loved. After the evening show, some people were exhausted, and if you accidentally took a wrong turn on the way back to your room, you’d have to climb up the hill all over again. On a positive note, the chef at the Western restaurant was incredibly talented, serving the best steak, pasta, and grilled prawns on the entire island – truly amazing!

This resort is a bit old and far from the main bustling area, making it inconvenient to get a taxi. I even struggled to find a cab for the airport in the morning. There's no Chinese-speaking staff. The dining options aren't great; Western food is okay, but the Chinese food is ridiculously expensive and not tasty. Thai food is mediocre, though the curry was good. The room itself is quite spacious. It's close to Oriental Village, but since the Sky Bridge is under maintenance, Oriental Village is also very quiet.

An amazingly beautiful hotel! It has a huge, green territory, cozy bungalows, and you can see birds and monkeys. All the hotel staff we interacted with were very polite and friendly. The room cleaning was excellent. Nearby are Oriental Village, a cable car, and a waterfall. The breakfasts were delicious and varied. Special thanks to the guys who made the roti. We also really loved the beach: clean, wide, with soft white sand and magnificent views. This is a hotel we definitely want to come back to!!! Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful stay!

Facilities: While not a brand-new hotel, it boasts its own nature reserve ambiance. All rooms are individual wooden bungalows, offering different mountain and ocean views! The rooms are spacious! The balcony is very comfortable! Hygiene: The cleaning was excellent and very thorough! Environment: As soon as you enter, it feels like a giant natural garden combining forest and ocean. You can spot dusky leaf monkeys and hornbills everywhere, truly a wonderful ecosystem! There's no need to go out to see any other attractions when you're here! The pool is also very comfortable, not crowded, and the drinks at the pool bar are delicious! Service: Excellent! I received a birthday surprise, a handwritten blessing, a birthday cake, and an upgrade to a sea-view wooden chalet. The hotel is truly thoughtful and generous. They wished me a happy birthday during check-in, and the room was decorated with a little surprise! It feels like the hotel genuinely cares about guests' special occasions, even though I hadn't requested any of these in advance! So, I was very touched!
