Rocha Brava Village Resort

First time in Carvoeiro & the Rocha Brava. Lovely atmosphere from the time we arrived - welcoming staff who guided us to our apartment and offered to help with the luggage. This is a huge resort with many apartments. We right beside Kids Club and a short walk across the carpark to the pool area. Apartment was 2 bedrooms, one ensuite and one bathroom. Huge living area space with sofa, 2 arm chairs and dining table with 4 comfy chairs. Kitchen was small but had coffee machine, microwave, food processor, dish washer and ample utensils and kitchenware. There was a washing machine in a little room outside the front door. We were left some washing powder, washing up liquid, tea, coffee, sugar & milk. The apartment also had with two balconies (one for clothes horse). The bedrooms were both a great size, had bedside tables and a decent wardrobe with plenty of hangers. Air conditioning units were very good also. Cleaning service of the apartment and outdoors areas was faultless. Met a lovely Irish lady from Tipperary who has been working at the Rocha Brava for years. On site facilities - supermarket, Coffee Shop/casual restaurant & pool bar all very good and not a total rip off. Preferred on site supermarket to the Spar. The white wine sangria was the best we had all holiday at the pool bar. Three different pool areas. The Ocean View Pool & Country Pool were much quieter but both had kids pools attached. Main pool area was great and there was no holding of sun loungers. Sonia monitors the pool area and gives out a new band to guests every day. She will tell you not to be keeping sun loungers and watch your kids etc. I would recommend that the hotel give out weekly bands instead. The main pool is much deeper at one end and I found it hard to watch the kids in the shallow end of the pool and also the kids pool. There is a large pool behind the main pool which is very deep - I think the hotel are missing an opportunity with this. It might be an option to have this as a shallow pool also. Must mention Macy in Kids Club - very accommodating and good to the kids. My daughter didn't want to leave Kids Club. Different activities everyday. Playground & mini golf on site also. Cannot wait to return again.

Hotel Carvoeiro Plaza

An excellent location for a hotel, and now fully refurbished to a very nice 4 star hotel. We stayed here before the refurbishment, but now it has been done the hotel is so much more modern and ideal for visiting Carvoeiro. We stayed in a fantastic sea view room at the front, which was perfect for sitting on the balcony, having a drink, reading or a book or playing cards together. The restaurant was closed when we were there, so we were given breakfast vouchers to use at Jan or central. Both of these restaurants offered great breakfasts that were better than the buffet you used to get at the hotel! The addition of the rooftop bar is incredible, fantastic views, nice cocktails and great staff too. This hotel has always been perfectly located, but not it has been properly upgraded it is the ideal hotel in Carvoeiro!

We stayed for 7 days and had a good experience here. Only real points is the kitchen could probably do with a bit of TLC, but it covers all the bases and works, and there did seem to be a lot of ants, but again, not really an issue. These negative points do not outweight the fact that for a self catering setup it's a great resort. Bedrooms - very good size and comfy beds Bathrooms - great to have two bathrooms, one with a shower and one bath + shower Kitchen - well kitted out if a little tired Living area - well kitted out and comfy We stayed in a 'T2 Apartment Superior - Garden and Partial Sea' which had a private garden and happy with it. our friends garden was more compact and no view Pool - not the biggest but the kids loved it so all good. Pool Bar - great selection of drink & good pool side grub during the day Location - really well placed within the resort & area. only 3km from three large supermarkets and plenty of places nearby. We had a car for the week and it was about 2 minutes to drive into the centre / boardwalk which was handy. only 15 minutes from Slide & Splash While we didn't eat for breakfast or evening meals, the food during the day would make me think it would be good quality. Staff - very helpful and welcoming. couldn't do anything more for you. If they had more updated kitchens and some minor tidying up of the bathrooms i'd happily of given this 5* rating. i'd recommend to friends to come here.

Lovely hotel, we stayed here for a week from the 4th October on a self catering basis, we had a nice room but it's a bit remote for beaches, restaurants, etc. Taxis are a nightmare to get one, Uber is better if you need one as they are more reliable as we went to the beach and had a great day, called taxi from the main company in area at 5.50 from beach waited till 7.30 and 3 calls to taxi company later ended up walking back to hotel 45mins walk in dark not happy, nothing to do with hotel though but feel they could provide information for bus routes and a map of the area in reception. The self catering rooms should have a few more items of equipment , i.e a kettle (we take our own every trip away luckily) but no toaster or a cutting knife, or a chopping board and a tea towel could be provided as we ended up using one of the hand towels. All in all a good hotel and we were aware of the location but more local information would be beneficial.

My wife and I recently spent a wonderful 17-day holiday at Vitor’s Village; our sixth visit during the past decade. Moreover, we have already booked our September 2023 holiday at Vitor’s Village. Vitor’s Village is a secluded oasis with two-level apartments surrounded by beautiful aligned palm trees and well-kept green grass lawns to give it a very peaceful and relaxing setting. Vitor’s Village is only a short 10-minute walk to the town square of Ferragudo; a small, quaint fishing village that has retained its wonderful charm and character. There is a huge Lidl in Lagoa Parchal, which is a 30-minute walk from Vitor’s Village and it is only €4.00 to use Uber. The staff at Vitor's Village are very friendly and very well knowledgeable of the local area and eager to make your visit as pleasant as possible. The one-bedroom self-catering apartment we stayed in has an air conditioning unit in the main area and one in the bedroom. The kitchen has all utensils, pots, pans; dishes, cups, and saucers. It has a two-ring ceramic hob and good size refrigerator with a small freezer. Each apartment has a nice balcony with four chairs, a table, and a drying rack. The bathroom has a very powerful shower pressure which is wonderful. If I could find any areas for improvement, I would strongly recommend brighter lighting in the bathroom. The closet in the bedroom contains a digital safe to enable you to store your valuables during your stay. The pool area is open from around 0930 - 1930 and it prohibits anyone from placing towels earlier to reserve sun beds. There are three pools, a little kiddie pool adjacent to the main book and down some steps, you will find a quieter area with a separate pool. Vitor's Village has the Purple restaurant on site which serves a buffet breakfast which costs €10.50 per person if you did not have it included in your booking. My wife and I purposely did not eat breakfast as in previous visits, we found that we had always eaten too much! We chose instead, to purchase fresh croissants and rolls from the shop on site which enabled us to have breakfast on the patio each morning. The Purple restaurant also serves as the token ‘pool bar during the day and is open from 1800 for dinner in the evening. Although we have had lunch on several days at the ‘pool bar’, we never had dinner at the Purple restaurant. My wife and I instead have always made it a point to have dinner at one of the 38 diverse wonderful restaurants in Ferragudo; followed by sitting in the town square over a glass of wine and enjoying the local entertainment and wonderful atmosphere. After returning from the town square each evening; it is so nice for my wife and I to have a drink and relax on our balcony to cap the evening. It is SO very quiet and peaceful and so wonderful!!! We stayed here towards the end of July 2022, all in all 6 of us, 4 adults and two children using two villas. The villas themselves I felt are more than adequate, but I felt the TV had next to no choice for English people so pointless really - I think having a TV in one of the bedrooms or the master bedroom would be a nice touch.We also went 3 days with the same towels for some reason, which wasn’t no big deal but after changing them for the first few days to then suddenly stop we thought was weird. We did mention this to reception who gave us some towels about an hour after we asked. No major drama in the end. In terms of a self catering little Villa I would recommend, we went shopping and had breakfast and sometimes lunch in the Villa, it was more than big enough…maybe a little short on certain items in the kitchen but we managed and I loved the open plan of the Villa. When we stayed, the pool was lovely, not really particularly busy and always beds available…for example we didn’t walk over until around 10.30 in the morning and there wasn’t anyone there..take your pick.. But we went the beach for the day or the water park for example and returned in thee afternoon - of course it was busier then, but we always got beds and I thought the pool was absolutely fine. 10/12 minute walk into the village/beach area downhill (I would recommend having a walk around the village and booking a table in the nicer restaurants for that day or the day after etc)..no hassle and no stress then. We did that and ate in our opinion in the best and nicest places without fuss with a booking. Of course walking back up the hill can be tough for people who struggle on their feet, but if you can’t get a taxi then walking is easy enough, although most nights we got a taxi which is around €5. We would definitely stay here again, and at that time of the year. We have stayed and been to this area twice now and I’d like to think we know what we are talking about. We all enjoyed the week at Hello Villas and as mentioned would return, but they need to just tweak a few things here and there to get it spot on as mentioned. Drinks and food around the pool was quite reasonable all things considered so we didn’t mind paying slightly extra for a beer for example for convenience..but like I mentioned we went shopping and had a fridge full of beer and wine in the Villa anyway.
