It is not the easiest task to choose a hotel on the other side of the world from your cozy surroundings back home. Of course you check Tripadvisor and a few other sites before finally making your decision. But still, you never know. If you by chance are going to La Paz in Bolivia, trust me on this: Stay at Hotel Sagarnaga. You will not be disappointed. Good prices, really nice staff, clean comfortable rooms and perfectly situated in the city. Most staff speak really good English and they understand service. Breakfast is simple but good enough for you to make it until lunch. Also, should you have any desires to climb a mountain, ride a bike, go on a bustour to Lake Titicaca etc you have several agencies of which Jiwaki would be one I would recommend just 10-50 meters from the hotel. And yes, La Paz is situated at 3700 masl and you might, no, you should be very careful upon arrival and give it at least 48 hrs of rest before you attempt any kind of activity. Hence Hotel Sagarnaga: Within 60 seconds distance you have ATM´s, Money exchange, Good restaurants, small stores to buy your water to have in the hotel room while you rest and try to get oxygen into your lungs. In other words, Hotel Sagarnaga offers you a perfect infrastructure to get comfortable and catch your breath.

We had the pleasure of spending three nights at hotel Qantu in La Paz. Hotel staff was nice and we could arrange with them on email to secure pickup from the airport. Arriving at the hotel in the middle of the night we were greeted by a very professional and nice staff member. Room was fairly good size and clean. indeed the whole hotel felt clean and as something the staff cared about. Breakfast was ok and here again friendly staff made good omelets for us suggested by themselves. However the really big difference was Lili in the reception. She was very very helpful and helped organising our whole journey on from La Paz. Even booked busses, sightseeing, taxis and all we needed. No doubt about my next stay in La Paz also will be at Qantu.

What a beautiful hotel! It is brand new and feels like it. Our room is big, comfortable, clean and stylish. We loved hanging at the pool and hot tub. The staff is extremely helpful and attentive. They contacted us via email to set up a taxi pick up from the airport. The staff also gifted us a cake to celebrate our honeymoon. Highly recommend!

Really very helpful staff who communicated well in English. The location is great and the rooms are beyond expectations given the modest price charged by the hotel. The breakfast was adequate rather than expansive. This suited me because I went on tours and hardly had time to have a huge breakfast. I cannot speak highly enough of the Ritz or its staff. Communications were good in advance as I requested an early check in due to my early flight, and they accommodated this. The arranged for a taxi to collect me from the airport. My room was huge, with massive opening windows (I hate aircon and the feeling of being sealed into a room), there was no aircon in the room but with the windows open I got a lovely breeze. I was at the front, overlooking the road and square, with my windows open, it was very noisy and La Paz is a very full on city, but this did not bother me at all. I would say that if you may want fresh air and you need silence, then maybe request a room not at the front ! An observation is that there was no dish cloths or any linens in the kitchen which I would expect when you have a working kitchen, I did have to give plates a wipe over with a bathroom towel when I washed them. I was able to run a ”tab” of a couple of taxis and also some food and drink from the coffee bar downstairs which I paid in one go as I left, this was helpful too. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough - stay here if you go to La Paz !!

There is something to ask the front desk to help you call taxi to recommend the route you want to play. The hotel also offers spa horse killing and dry cleaning services and room service (although not tasty). The breakfast is generous enough to cater for different needs.

This is an excellent hotel, just outside the main centre of La Paz. The rooms are of an excellent quality, with a good sized main room and bathroom. The hotel accommodated my early arrival into La Paz and allowed me to check into my room at 8am for a reasonable price. The breakfast were varied in content but always of a very good standard, with a spectacular view of La Paz from the main restaurant on the 8th floor. The laundry service the hotel offers was also useful after 2 weeks of travelling! The only thing that would have been useful is tea/coffee facilities and maybe a fridge in the room, but such services are provided by main reception. I would definitely stay at this hotel again the next time I am in La Paz.

It is cozy and clean, the rooms have a good size and the location of the hotel is very good. Very central, to reach everything important walking and still quiet. The staff, especially Dani, is soooo friendly and helpful, premature and flexible. We will be happy to stay here next time!

The good: I loved 1)the location in the witches market, 2)the modern and clean room, 3)excellent shower, 4)helpful and knowledgeable front desk staff, 5)rooftop terrace for breakfast with excellent views, 6)elevator(!) 7)in-room heater The areas for improvement: 1)Room was not consistently cleaned/ re-stocked with toiletries and bathroom tissue (I had to ask for these twice in my 5 night stay). 2)Breakfast offerings are very basic and limited in choice (bread rolls, 1 jam, some margarine, 1 boiled egg but only if requested, 1 watered down juice, bananas, instant coffee, instant oatmeal). To the point that I brought my own food to supplement for variety. All-in I think it is a solid choice and offer great value, but could be amazing if they improve on the few suggestions listed above.
