Cerritos Surf Town - Beach Front Property

Location was nice, right on the beach. Cerritos itself is kinda weird. Felt like a pop-up beach town mixed with the days leading up to a festival? The pool was nice and big but lots of kids and screaming. The rooms were super bare bones. Only one night stand provided so I had to put my stuff on the floor next to my bed. No hanging rod or hangers in the closet. No light in the closet. No hooks anywhere except for one in the bathroom. A beach hotel with no hooks? The floor felt slimy all the time and the provided shampoo and soap was out of a dispenser that could have been in a truck stop restroom, very chemical smelling. Maybe saw some mouse poop on the floor and the bed a couple times? Didn't want to think about it. They also expected us to wear paper wrist bands during our stay? Very odd. Location on the beach was nice though, and we saw a ton of whales, which was awesome.

Beautiful, idyllic, peaceful. A joy to be there. Maid service and waiters could have been a bit better, but they didn't detract from the overall splendid experience.

We enjoyed the stay except for one problem. Parking is secure with a guard post out front. They could use a sign to find the check in office. The pool area was clean with enough chairs and unbrellas. Only one hot tub was working but it was quite hot. The pool may have been colder than the ocean but it's refreshing. The restaurant has a nice variety of choices and it's a great location. We had a beach side cabana that was amazing to wake up seeing the waves and whales out the window. The bed was good and it was helpful to have a refrigerator, coffee maker with coffee and a microwave. All great except for the on and off sewer smell in the room. It seemed to be coming from the shower drain and some evenings it was very strong to the point of making me feel ill. The staff poured some baking soda down the drain and said they would address but nothing really changed.

Great location. Rooms are a little sparse--could have used a chair, a rug for the door to trap sand and there were a few quirky things like using a standard pillowcase on a king pillow--leaving the bare pillow exposed--gross. Also, online pics show big water dispensers in all the rooms, but this is not so. Reception hands you two small bottles at check in, but that's it. They are happy to sell you water at the bar but since water is non-potable, you will be buying a lot. Contrary to someone's previous review saying there was a water station in reception, there is not. Nowhere to fill refillable bottles. Restaurant is fine. Breakfast was the best meal and items are pricey here and all over town. Get ready to buy $15 margaritas!

Our recent stay at Cerritos Surf Town was so peaceful. The staff were friendly and accommodating, especially the restaurant workers. The food and cocktails were wonderful. The pool area was not busy at all, and one night we had the hot tub completely to ourselves. The beach is pristine, and our one-bedroom beach front hut was so adorable, clean, and had a hammock looking out at the ocean. We will definitely be staying there again!

The room was like a garage with a bed and bathroom area at the back. The bedsheets had some kind of terrible looking stain on them. The towels were of poor quality, when paying the price for this type of a room you expect more. When asking for an extra towel it was like asking the front desk girl to take out a tooth.

Excellent! Can’t recommend this place enough! Get away from the tourists and find yourself right on the beach in real Mexico. Concierge Tony and his staff are all excellent.
