On one hand, it’s a gorgeous hotel with incredible, professional and helpful staff. Very comfortable accommodation (we booked the suite; room 401) with high spec finishing and serious eye to detail. All mod cons, first class shower/ toiletries and a bed you don’t want to leave. There’s a library on 3rd floor with Nintendo memorabilia and a well stocked whisky bar with a little outside space - very relaxing. On the other hand, the location isn’t great. Whilst only 1.6km from the action, you REALLY notice it, mainly due to one factor, food. A) there is no room service. B) there are literally 2-3 restaurants in a 7 minute walking distance (2 of which we went to and left after a drink). C) limited food at the hotel and at set times. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all need to be pre-booked (if not part of your room cost). All are set menus i.e. you have no choice. You get what your given with a decent price tag. We tried breakfast on our last morning and whilst the quality was good, it really wasn’t to our taste. The lounge has snacks but it’s literally that; cheese, ham, chocolate or cake. So if food and location are not top on your priority list, this is a strong 4*, maybe even a 5* hotel and experience. If they are though, overall it’s probably closer to a 3* experience and therefore, you question the value for money. Again, the staff were excellent and one of the highlights of our stay.

Location of the hotel is excellent. It is just right by Kyoto station, making it extremely easy and convenient to not only visit all the major sites but also to travel interstate via the Shinkansen. Hotel is modern Japanese theme is absolutely stunning both from the exterior and interior. The hotel room is also very luxurious (and big by Japanese standards), with a beautiful spa-themed bathroom that is a joy to come back to after all the exploring. For breakfast, you get a choice of either Japanese (kaiseke style) or western/intercontinental. Both choices were delicious (but If I had to pick only one, I’d go for the Japanese one). Gym was also very decently equipped and there is a spa/onsen within the hotel. Overall, I would return here again for another stay when I’m back in Kyoto! ❤️

I choose this hotel because its in the train station and beside metro subway and in front local bus and taxi area for good transportation. Lots food area 😋 Kyoto to osaka rapid train 580 yen about 30 mins travel time . No need for the bullet train save your money. I used jr railpass last year a waste of money . 15 mins travel time thats differences. Amazing stay! Super friendly staff, Tippy was especially helpful. Very ethnically diverse staff with good English. Breakfast was superb. To the seven articles of the subway, it was about ７～８ minutes walk across the Takase gawa River and the Asahikawa. It is a good route to access because it can be reached by １ book to Shijo Kawaramachi. There were few convenience stores and restaurants that were open late, so it was a very quiet and calm area if you were inn for accommodation. I stayed in a single room, but there was a sofa and a functional large TV monitor in a double bed, and it was a room that could spend comfortably without feeling compact.

My wife and I spent 5 nights here, and had two Kaiseki evening meals, and breakfast each morning. We agree that the experience was the highlight of our two weeks’ time in Japan. We stayed in one of the smaller room (Yuki) but it was sufficiently large and comfortable to lay out our suitcases and still move around without difficulty. Our room has a private half bath. There were three private baths (ofuro) - some that are large enough for two to wash and then soak together. We were asked each day when we wanted to use the ofuro, and had no difficulty spending an extended time enjoying the experience of the ofuro - usually before dinner. We have stayed at other ryokans, but this was the most enjoyable. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. The smallest request was remembered and acted upon. The breakfasts were varied and delicious, and the Kaiseki, prepared by the owner/chef, were works of art as well as being delicious. Some of the staff are European, who clearly love Japanese culture. They were able to explain subtleties that we might have missed had we stayed in a ryokan without fluent English speakers. We are already planning our return to Kyoto in large part because we want to enjoy again the hospitality of Izuyasu. Recommend making reservations for dinner since seating is limited.

It is located on the south side of Kyoto Station, and the fact that it was founded in the 13th year of Kyoho attracted my attention. Relax in a 7.5 tatami mat Japanese-style room. Luckily, there was a futon on the floor. The tatami mats were not rushes and were fuzzy and slightly damaged. There is a closet. There is a yukata, an obi, and a towel inside. There is a veranda, so I went out. There is a slightly narrow bathroom with a toilet, washbasin, and bathtub. There is no washlet. There is a step at the entrance. There is a large public bath on the first floor. There are no lockers in the dressing room, but 20 shelves with baskets. The bathtub was about 1.2m x 3m in size, and the temperature of the water was neither hot nor lukewarm. There were 8 Karang. I took a bath at night and in the morning, but both were single baths. Overall, I cannot deny that the facilities are a little outdated, but they seemed to be well cleaned. Considering the location and the large public bath, it felt cheap.

Super cool! The service attitude is first-rate. This hotel has a large and small pool with a hot spring, with bathrobes but not replaced for 4 days. Stayed for 4 nights only for the second and third days to change bath towels. On the fourth day, the cleaning staff seemed to forget that there were people living here. I didn't enter the room to clean at all. We were a little scared if we had changed the bath towels. Later, when did the service staff help us clean up and replace. The spare tea bag biscuits in the room only gave us the first day and forgot to give us the next two or three days. The biscuits were good to eat and he gave us a supplement after asking the counter. Overall, the accommodation experience is good. Although the room space is not very large, it is enough to use the window of the room. It feels like seeing the snow on the roof tiles outside the house. Next time I go to Kyoto, I will want to live in a hotel to make up for the hot springs I didn't soak.

The hotel is close to Jr Kyoto Station, a 5-10 minute walk. It is located on a quiet street, facing a park. There is no sound at night and it is very quiet. There will be English-speaking staff at the counter who are very polite and friendly. They will say hello and bow when they come back from going out, making you feel like you are being taken care of. I highly recommend Private Bath. It only costs 1,000yen for 50 minutes and you can take a hot spring bath alone on the top floor. It is very comfortable and satisfying.
