The location is excellent and right in the downtown of Kyoto but not in the front street which will be too crowded and noisy, still there were some noisy from the restaurants and bar nearby which still played loud music even after 12:00AM, so not ideal for those people who needs total silence to sleep. This is probably the necessary evil when live in the downtown hotel, but the hotel is already in the back alley so felt a bit better. Cannot consider the service top quality since the hotel front desk is located at 8th floor, and there is only one person tending the luggage at ground level till 6PM, so no service can be offered at ground level, this is the part can improve since some of the high floor hotel do have ground floor service crew unless in a big commercial building complex. The room is nicely decorated and everything feels new, no complaint about the room. Although the breakfast is a bit disappointed given the very limited selection of foods and Japanese style breakfast can only offer limited number (25 serving per day?), this part can definitely make some improvement, at least inform the guest about the limited number so we can book in advance.

This was my first trip to Kyoto and there are many options for hotels. I was having trouble deciding exactly where but Good Nature turned out to be an excellent choice because: 1. It's right downtown - a few minutes walk to two subway stops - you'll use the subway to get to good attractions like Inari, Nara, Kiyomizu 2. you are also within walking distance to Pontocho, Gion, Nishiki markets 3. There were 3 of us so we had 3 individual beds - in a standard room and despite this being 28m2 the layout of the room is very good. Of course, if you want the deluxe room it's much bigger but it will cost a lot more 4. Managed to score a trip.com 36% discount (for 5 nights) which was a no-brainer (we just got the room only) - pay for buffet breakfast if you must (plenty of Starbucks around if that's your thing) - I did book the first night separately direct through the hotel website though as the trip.com offer didn't extend for 6 nights 5. The room was very clean, the staff were very friendly and explained everything. 6. Buffet breakfast was a good selection of Western and Asian choices. The restaurant was very clean. The prosciutto was amazing!

We couldn't have stayed in a more amazing hotel while in Kyoto. From the first moment we stepped in, we were greeted with hospitality. Every staff member we encountered was respectful and extremely helpful. Our room was well appointed and had more amenities than we could use. Not to mention, the private in room onsen. This was the whole reason we chose this hotel and it did not disappoint. The water was refreshing and you could really feel the healing effects. As for the meals that the hotel provides... I must say both the Japanese set and Western set breakfasts were delightful and had many options. The fresh ingredients and the diligence of the dining staff were impeccable. We felt truly valued as guests. It is safe to say that I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to stay in Kyoto. We most certainly will be back!

The room was very very nice! Don’t mention the 13 square meters shown on the introduction, it should be at least 50 square meters. There are guest rooms, rooms, and bathrooms are separated. The toilet is on the other side. All are covered with bamboo mats. It is very comfortable and clean, and the white socks are not stained with dust. When we arrived, the bath water had already been placed in the pine wooden tub, and everything should be put in a place where we could easily get it. There is a faint woody fragrance in the whole room, which is so healing. The service is very thoughtful and meticulous, even if you don't understand the language, you can also dance and communicate. The most memorable thing is that his food is so delicious, it is the most worthwhile hotel in Kyoto. The proprietress is very kind, and will definitely stay here again

I stayed at Hotel Muse Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi MEITETSU, which was not able to stay on the opening day (October 31, 2020). Because there was a cheap plan for [Kinki 2 Fu 4 prefectural people limited]. It would have been because it opened at a severe time of self-restraint, the room was a very new impression. It is the stay at Mitsui Gardens Hotel which is ３ times in Kyoto since entering this year. There was a concept in each hotel of the hotel, and this time it was a collaboration with the temple. Booked 3 nights in Kyoto and decided on Forza Hotel Shijo Kawaramachi. Check-in was swift but the lady staff could not speak much English, though. The room was not very big and opening up 2 big pieces of luggage was quite challenging but manageable. There was a mini fridge but no safe deposit box. I like the access to free hot beverages in the lobby area. The location of the Hotel is great! It's right in the middle of the shopping street. There is an Exit 11 from Shijo Station that is right to the Hotel (a distance to walk, though) The famous Nishiki market is just a 2 minutes walk from the Hotel. Lots of shops and eateries near the Hotel. Across the road on the short distance right, you can catch buses (at the Bus Stop) to many sightseeing spots within Kyoto. Though this was not my original choice of Hotel in Kyoto, I found the stay in Forza Hotel cozy and comfortable. In fact, I love it! Will I stay at Hotel Forza Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi again? Of course!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights during our stay in Kyoto. We loved our stay and would definitely recommend this Ryokan. From the moment we arrived we were made feel so welcome. The room was spacious and the beds on the floor were comfortable, even at four months pregnant I was comfortable. My husband and I both took advantage of the Onsen bath onsite which was lovely. The location is fantastic right beside the Nishiki Market, there are so many restaurants nearby. We had breakfast onsite one morning and would absolutely recommend doing this at least once. It was absolutely delicious and one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.

The rating represents an average of the guest room (5 stars) and customer service (0 stars) experiences. Everything in life is relative, right? So keep in mind that we spent $700/night. The extremely expensive traditional Japanese guest rooms are exquisite, but 1) service in the exclusive restaurants is prioritized over service to hotel guests, meaning that there is literally no guest assistance during dinner hours; 2) and when guest service is available, it is provided in very poor, broken English, which results in misunderstandings and frustration. We actually felt as though we had to avoid the personnel and struggle to find our own solutions, such was the frustration and concern about feeling too pushy or intrusive. Although it was by no means easy, it was easier to google our way out of problems or ask people on the street. There were several times when we had to enter the kitchen to find anyone available to help and others when we dialed 8 on the telephone and let it ring interminably. It worked once. No one is around early in the morning. The owner acts like he’s on speed, making bizarre 2 second appearances and, in the following example, can make really bad choices. We originally booked a room for 5 nights during Sakura season along with our friends. Our friends canceled their reservation, so the owner assumed that it was OK to cancel ours as well. When we told him that we did not cancel, he scolded us, saying it was Sakura season and that he was very busy and that I must reconfirm my reservation with a credit card (by email!). This also coincided with a tourist rush to Japan that occurred just after Japan was reopened for general tourism. This all transpired around Christmas, so since I was not as vigilant with my emails and was hesitant to send credit card information by unencrypted email, we lost our reservation again! When the dust settled, he could not accommodate us for as long as we originally intended to stay. We are now in Tokyo at the Okura hotel..and NOW I know what superlative Japanese-style customer service is all about.

Staff: limited English, but very friendly and accommodating Room: great Japanese home setup (ie tatamim mats during the day, futon beds at night). Clean toilets and fresh towels. Extras: Onsen only available from 15:30 to 00:30H. I wish there’d be longer opening hours. No breakfast or dinner included (which I thought was standard for “ryokan” style accommodation). Overall, good stay!

Hotel asked to pay accommodation tax upon checking in and insist it is required for all Kyoto hotel showing us two brochures. This is not the first hotel I stayed in Kyoto during this period as i stayed 2 different hotels in Kyoto during this trip, but this is the only hotel that asked to pay for a fee. Though fee is not huge, advise travellers to check clearly before booking. Location is not bad and alot of shops around it but do note car cannot be stopped directly in front of hotel as car could not enter the street as its all shops around it.
