Just stayed 2 nights in a club twin and a club king room. First the positives - 1. The rooms - for a oldish hotel and a round one at that, the room was outstanding - it was spacious and i don't mean spacious by Japanese standards but really by any international one. The rooms looked pristine - i don't know if they did some renovations during covid but it did not look in the least worn. The bathtub was great and the room looked out to some nice greenery and trees. The sheets was really nicely made - taut and smooth just as it should be and the bed comfy. Adequate outlets. 2. The lounge is a nice respite with it's nice vantage looking out to a nice pond and garden. The staff were very friendly and explained about the macha tea. Dinner choice was reasonable with about 5 choices of food and plenty on alcohol to choose from. 3. Just opposite hotel is the conference centre (which is why i stayed at Prince) and the subway. 4. The area surrounding is green and peaceful and lush. One of my colleagues even saw a deer at night near the hotel. Now the not so good. 1. It's not near any shopping or restaurants (unless you count the cafe in the conference centre). There is a McDonalds about 8 minutes walk away (if you walk a bit briskly) and a Daiso about 15-20 minutes walk. Some other small restaurants within 10 minutes walk. 2. The hotel restaurants - they are not exactly family friendly in their fare. Set meals more for formal dining. Given the paucity of very nearby restaurants, the hotel could consider increasing the repertoire of simple kid friendly food. Strange how none of the restaurants offer this but some choices available from room service i.e. spaghetti. My daughter ended up with room service and me trekking to Mcdonalds to supplement her meal choice. I had trouble with Uber Eats or that's an option too. 2. Breakfast is a bit forgettable - i had the buffet one day - not quite befitting a Marriott Autograph hotel standard. I tried the western set another day - it was really quite nice but staff a bit inflexible. My daughter liked the bread so i asked for more only for the ultraman no sign to be invoked and the reply that they were out of stock (i guess that's their diplomatic way of saying you only get your one basket of bread and that's it. So I'm giving the hotel a 4/5. Nonetheless, there are enough positives to make me want to come back in future

From the moment we arrived at Roku Kyoto, we felt completely taken care of. From the warm greetings we received as we got out of the taxi to the genuine smiles and hospitality given to us at Reception. There is a pride that exudes from everyone at Roku Kyoto, and for good reason. It is an absolutely extraordinary hotel. But it's not just the beautiful accommodations and the incredibly thoughtful design throughout the property. Nor is it just the sumptuous food stunningly presented at every meal. It is the people who work there and represent the true heart and soul of what the Roku Kyoto experience is all about. My wife and I have traveled all around the globe and we have rarely encountered such a level of excellence. The architectural design, the interior design, the facilities and the grounds are all stunning. In fact, the photos from their website do not do it justice. The room we had on the 4th floor was gorgeous and the bed was perhaps the most comfortable bed we have ever encountered (and we travel often!). The tranquility, the views, the attention to detail throughout the hotel are are not just glorious but absolutely inspiring. The gorgeous pool is filled with water from the natural hot springs that abound in that area of Kyoto. It is a sumptuous experience to swim in that very special pool. We only had breakfast at the hotel, but it was the best we encountered in Japan. The food was beautifully prepared , the choices were extensive and stunningly displayed and the service was impeccable. In fact, service is another thing that sets this extraordinary hotel apart. It's not just well done, there is a pride and a joy that emanates from every member of the staff, no matter what their position. It's what gives this place true heart and soul and it's what elevates the experience. We will never forget our stay at Roku Kyoto and cannot wait to return! We would like to especially thank Kayo Naskagawa. Her attention to detail, her inherent ability to go the extra mile for a guest. Her sweetness and ease. Located a few minutes walk to the Imperial Palace is this hotel. This area is considered to be a ”quiet zone” so there is a minimal commercial activity. There are very few restaurants and the closest convenience stores are a block or two away. If you ever watched movies like Die Hard or In the Line of Fire, you remember scenes in a hotel with a large indoor atrium with glass elevators. All the room doors face the open atrium. That is exactly what the design of this hotel is like. All the amenities are on the ground floor or below. As for the rooms. For Japan, these rooms are quite large. It would be comfortable for international visitors who are used to larger rooms. The amenities are not branded but of higher quality. There are three areas for parking. Ground level, basement, and outdoor. While checkout is at noon, you get complimentary parking until 3 pm. We choose this hotel for this feature. Allows you to spend the day exploring without worrying about the expensive street parking costs. There is a taxi stand with taxis until about 10 pm. There are five restaurants, be fair warned, all are quite pricy. There are two breakfast options. If you want a traditional Japanese breakfast, you go to the Japanese restaurant Hotaru. If you want a ”western” breakfast, there is a buffet at the Terrace restaurant. We were not interested in seeing the nightlife but wanted to be close to the Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle. This hotel was perfect for our needs. Would recommend without hesitation.

This is the second hotel I stayed in Kyoto. Before going to Aman, I read some of posts here that the service was bad. I then quite regret to make a room reservation though I was impressed by the photos and posts from website. Besides, I had a bad first impression toward Aman Kyoto as they replied email for at least 3 days. This is not acceptable for such hotel with high room rate. When I arrived the hotel for the first day, I was quite surprised by the service. The hotel staff load my luggages from taxi efficiently and sent them to rooms directly. Then I was guided by another staff for check-in. She served me and my child a cup of green tea. This green tea is very special. Its taste is green tea but has a floral smell. My kid and I were very impressed. Unfortunately, I forgot to buy one before leaving. Then we went to Living Pavilion to have lunch. After lunch, our room was ready and a staff took us to the room and introduced us the facilities. The room is spacious, even the bathroom. We stayed in room 楢 . It is near the Living Pavilion, hotel’s restaurant. It is quite quiet. For our staying of two nights, we almost had dinner in room. The Udon noodle tastes good. My son ate it in lunch time and two dinner time. The hotel also provides welcome desserts for every night. First night is dried persimmon and the second night is chocolates. The chocolates are very very yummy. I tried the spa massage for two times. It is really good. As only me and my son in this trip, he couldn’t use the complimentary onsen. I then paid for a private onsen. It is very comfortable. The room’s pillows are very hard. My kid and I didn’t have a good sleep. We asked the front desk to give us a softer one for second night. It still doesn’t fit for me. Thus I didn’t sleep well during my stay. The breakfast had three choices: Western, Japanese and wellness. We tried western and Japanese breakfast. Both are delicious. Especially French toast in western style and porridge in Japanese style. The taste is unforgettable. The hotel environment is very comfortable. It is far away from the city. Only trees and grass around us. Everywhere has fresh air. It refreshes me. If the bed and pillow fit me, it will be perfect. We also had lunch in Tak-An restaurant. The food is good. The staffs are very nice and kids-friendly. They are very tolerant to kids. The check-out process is also very smooth. Everything is well-prepared, even our luggages. We booked a transportation to the Kansai Airport through the hotel. The driver is nice.

Stayed a total of six nights hotel booked by travel agent in Sydney, requested a three star, which hotel is rated as but could pass as a four star. Took the breakfast option when checked in 1250 yen per person well worth it, option of Japanese or Western breakfast, brought to your table when ready on a tray, help yourself to drinks. Staff very welcoming, always ready to provide you with directions and maps, would book tours when requested. Ten minute walk Marutamachi subway station, directly opposite Kyoto Imperial Palace which was worth the visit, comfortable walk to Nijo Castle. Ten minute walk to family mart and McDonald's. Our room was spacious complete with double bed, sofa, medium size flat screen TV, fridge, electric jug and two varieties of green tea. Bathroom small but functional, all toiletries provided including razor, hair brush toothbrush. Room serviced daily, option to have bedding changed or not daily. Retractable clothes line over bath if you need to rinse clothes. Definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

The hotel breakfast is western style. The boss is a foreigner. There are shop assistants who can speak Chinese. Hotel decoration style likes. Mobile phones are also available in the hotel. The only flaw is that when we washed our face from day one to day one, we accidentally noticed that a hair was caught in the towel in the mirror reflection. Slightly disappointed. But it does not affect the overall feeling.

I heard that it has a history of a hundred years, so it is not so new, but it is quiet, clean and warm. Although there is no separate bathroom, the two bathrooms and two toilets downstairs are very convenient. If you want to experience a Japanese garden, the family feel of Japanese drama is right. 4. There should be no parking space. The room I live in is very small and cannot add an extra bed, but I sleep very comfortably and feel cramped and cramped. Located in the Japanese-style squatter house in the North District, you can walk to Dade Temple and close to the Kinkaku Temple. There is a shared kitchen, living room, shower (single room) and so on. There are many cups, tea and coffee. There is also a hand-painted huge map on the wall of the living room. It is very beautiful, clean and full of life. The owner is very enthusiastic and serious to tell me the map. If you have any questions, you can ring the doorbell to call the owner, hahahahaha. The room I live in is upstairs, the door can be opened two doors, can be locked.

I stayed with my 80 year old mother who lived in Machiya until I married. Very nostalgic space. It was old but well maintained and seemed to have stayed at my grandmother's house 50 years ago. Now my mother lives in a condominium, and I live in a confidential house, so I'm worried about the sound and the cold. There are heaters and hot water. Because the sound was out of the tube, I was very concerned when I went to the toilet at night. It was the first second floor room, so it was good to change to the first floor room near the toilet. I want to stay, but if you are worried, I recommend asking anything by phone or email. The 500 yen rental bicycle is quite old and should be new. If you check in, please lubricate. Breakfast is a hall kotatsu and everyone is all together (8:～ and 8:30 ～). At first it was awkward air, but once the story is over, it is fun. The person who is nervous to the first person may be confused. The meal was made by all the owners from the morning. The correct Japanese breakfast such as baked fish, miso soup and small bowl was delicious. The accommodation fee is very reasonable for Kyoto, and I want you to stay in the young and foreign people now. It is all the words of the young owner, ”I want you to enjoy the inconvenience”. I'm sure I'll repeat if I'm 20 years younger, but the toilet is close recently (laughs).

AMAZING!! This is one of my favourite hotels/ hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Feels so traditionally Japanese and the small touches around the dormitories are lovely. From the calming music that plays all day to the amazing bathroom/ shower facilities, we didn’t want to leave! Towels, hairdryers and toiletries are complimentary. The 206 bus runs from Kyoto train station near Dormitory Sui and then it’s about a 5 minute walk. Whilst it’s not in the centre of town, it’s still very close. The woman working on reception was SO lovely and couldn’t do enough to help us. Side note: if you book through Booking.com, you will still need to pay city tax when you arrive. We were not aware of this. Can’t recommend this place enough when you’re in Kyoto!
