The facility is generally older. There are no train stations nearby, so if you have a suitcase, you'll have to use the bus or taxi. There is no elevator, only stairs.

I stayed here for the first night of my Kyoto Trail. It appears the building was originally a studio apartment. I booked a room with a shared shower, but when a cancellation occurred, they changed my reservation to a room with a unit bath, and they were very accommodating. All I needed was a room with enough space to sleep comfortably, so this was sufficient. There's a convenience store (Family Mart) nearby, and the price is probably cheap for Kitashirakawa, Kyoto.

It's important to check check-in times or contact the property directly, as arriving late might make it difficult to get settled. Very clean and welcoming. Something to consider if you don't like shared bathrooms.

I stayed before National Day and contacted the front desk to extend my stay for two more nights, totaling five nights. Advantages: Cheap. While other places might require shared accommodation, this place offered a single room for even less. The single room was also quite spacious, easily accommodating two beds and two suitcases. Location is good; it's a suitable place to stay before exams/enrollment at Kyoto University. Facilities are okay; there's no private bathroom, but one on each floor is acceptable. There's a microwave, refrigerator, and water dispenser next to the front desk, so it's easy to heat up some food and store drinks. Disadvantages: Time restrictions. Check-in is after 3 PM and check-out is before 10 PM (perhaps common for small Japanese inns?). There's also a shower time restriction from 6 PM to 10 PM and a curfew from 11 PM to 7 AM the next day. Perhaps you can leave earlier, but I didn't ask. Overall, it's not suitable for people with too much freedom; it feels a bit like staying in a boarding house. Cleaning is good; the inner rooms are carpeted, and the staff uses a vacuum cleaner, but you can still clearly see any crumbs or debris. The internet is bad. The room has a large iron door, and the router is placed in the hallway, so the internet is worse when people come back at night.

The room is more Japanese-style, but it has a strong smell. I had to open the window for an entire afternoon before the smell subsided. The quilt and other items are not of very good quality. Although there are no visible stains, it is still very worrying about hygiene issues. The stairs are very steep and you have to be careful. You must wear the slippers provided by the hotel to enter the bedroom, which may cause you to fall. The owner is very enthusiastic and willing to help. Toothpaste, toothbrushes and combs are not provided. The surrounding environment is very much like a rural town, compact and beautiful, and very clean and tidy. There is a supermarket diagonally opposite. The items are much cheaper than 711 and the variety is also complete. If you don't have to, I don't recommend staying here.

The reception lady was very warm and thoughtful. She personally took me into the room and taught me how to use some facilities. I booked the cheapest room with a public bathroom, but I was given a private bathroom, which was a pleasant surprise. The room was very large and divided into three areas: bathroom, lobby, and bedroom. I stayed there for two days, and it was not like other Japanese hotels that didn't clean. The bedding in the bedroom was very clean and I slept very comfortably. Their bath and shampoo sets were from the DHC brand. On the day of check-out, the lady bowed again to say goodbye. The Japanese service spirit was very useful to me as a foreigner.

I couldn't believe that such a reasonable hotel exists in such a crowded city of Kyoto. I recommend it. And the owner is kind and always bows when we meet.

It is not a typical hotel/motel, but rather a guesthouse outside the city. There are no facilities for simple cooking (induction, microwave oven) in the room, the lighting is not bright, and there is no desk, so you cannot do document work at night. There is no bathroom in the room, so you have to use the public bathroom. The bed is soft and suitable for a narrow-minded stay. The owner may not have professional reception skills, but she is very kind and trustworthy. If it is your first time traveling to Kyoto, transportation may feel difficult, but it is not bad if you can tolerate a little inconvenience.

The price is very affordable and suitable for budget travel. The sheets, quilt covers, and pillowcases are all clean and smell-free. The only drawback is that it seems a bit far from the subway station, but it is very close to Dongshan, where there are many temples. The famous Nanzen Temple is also in Dongshan
