The house is very spacious, clean and tidy. It is such a blessing to live in such a big house in Japan! Two bedrooms, a large living room, two large beds, four tatami mats, a washing machine with air-drying function, and a bath room. The fly in the ointment is that there is only one shower room and it is inconvenient for the family to take a bath. Everything else is good, but it's too hard to find. It was more than ten o’clock. According to Ctrip’s map, it’s not this house at all. I couldn’t find it for an hour by myself. Later, fortunately, I met an enthusiastic local person, a couple, and helped us find it together for an hour and communicated on various telephones. , I couldn’t find it when I searched the map. It turned out to be in the small alley behind where we were standing. Suggestion: At obvious turning points, hang up the signboard of the homestay. The map of Ctrip is wrong and needs to be corrected.

First review. This hotel is not cheap in Kyoto, but there are no reviews. I guess not many Chinese people stay there. I stayed in a lot of big hotels in Kyoto with the intention of trying it out, because there are few hotels in Kyoto that match the price and quality. The opposite is true, you get what you pay for. So, I discovered a new treasure hotel. The appearance is unprepossessing, the interior decoration is high-end, spacious and comfortable, and the supplies are also very good. There are few reviews. Ctrip has repeatedly sent invitations for first reviews, so I will write about it.

The location is excellent and right in the downtown of Kyoto but not in the front street which will be too crowded and noisy, still there were some noisy from the restaurants and bar nearby which still played loud music even after 12:00AM, so not ideal for those people who needs total silence to sleep. This is probably the necessary evil when live in the downtown hotel, but the hotel is already in the back alley so felt a bit better. Cannot consider the service top quality since the hotel front desk is located at 8th floor, and there is only one person tending the luggage at ground level till 6PM, so no service can be offered at ground level, this is the part can improve since some of the high floor hotel do have ground floor service crew unless in a big commercial building complex. The room is nicely decorated and everything feels new, no complaint about the room. Although the breakfast is a bit disappointed given the very limited selection of foods and Japanese style breakfast can only offer limited number (25 serving per day?), this part can definitely make some improvement, at least inform the guest about the limited number so we can book in advance.

Generally would like to rate 98/100 to this hotel! 👍🏻Location: Just right beside the subway station! Very convenient to travelers who are not familiar with Kyoto, especially after a tiring trip I just want to get to hotel as soon as possible without any hassles if possible. And the plus point is even this hotel is facing street but it’s quiet and no noise, besides that, along the street go straight down, got a lot of food and shops on shijo high street! 👍🏻Service: Service staff are friendly and professional! They are always keen to listen to your requests and answer your inquiries and follow your instructions accordingly! Surprisingly, they even went extra mile to make their customers more comfortable, I can feel they are taking their pride in their jobs which touches me. 👍🏻Cleanliness and Amenities also on point! The hotel is very new btw. The only 2 advices I would like to mention: 1. For my room type, there is difficulty to fit in big luggage, let alone for 2 persons so in that case please book bigger room. 2. Breakfast choice is quite limited, so if you had high expectation of hotel’ breakfast you might won’t be surprised. I still strongly recommend this hotel to people and will definitely visit it again as I really had a pleasant stay there.

Earlier this month, I stayed at Gion Misen and loved the experience. There are many new hotels in the city but Gion Misen stands out and exceeded expectations. The location is superb, on quiet and historic Shimnomzen Street, nestled among beautifully preserved wooden machiya townhouses, antique shops, galleries, and small restaurants. The staff is kind and helpful. The included breakfast was ample and delicious, including good coffee! The beautifully designed, contemporary Japanese rooms have comfortable beds, plenty of electrical outlets and good lighting. Gion Misen is ideally situated for excursions to the beautiful surrounding neighborhoods and the heart of downtown Kyoto on foot and by short taxi rides to all corners of this magnificent city. Thank you for making me feel so welcome.

Stayed at this hotel for one night, the location is great, very close to the main cherry blossom viewing spots. It's only a few kilometers from the hotel to Kyoto train station, so we took a taxi, which was 1300 yen one way. In addition, it is also very convenient to walk to other attractions from here. We pre booked for 4 days and extended twice as we loved Kyoto and were so comfortable at this outstanding boutique inn. We tried out 4 of the rooms and all were great. It’s new (6m I think), modern, immaculate Beds and pillows comfy, lovely towels and linen Bar fridge, kettle, green tea, coffee in room Bath and shower are big with lovely shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Plus cleanser, toner and moisturiser. Dyson hairdryer Monday - Friday we got a lovely breakfast basket with croissant, bread, butter, jam and juice. The staff are outstanding and a real asset to this place. They were just so lovely, helpful and diligent during our entire stay. Location was excellent, not that big a walk to anything we needed. Walked with our luggage and young kids from closest train station. Very close to convenience stores and an excellent ramen restaurant. Spotted my first geisha within 5 mins of leaving hotel after checkin. This happened a few times and I felt so lucky. Cons which did not bother us but may others: Stairs only. They can carry your baggage to your room though. First floor room was a bit noisy (street noise but it’s on a quiet street) In summary Highly recommend this place and think the pricing was cheap for what it offered during our February stay.

My final stop on my maiden voyage to Japan. Again, I will say, I could not have chosen a more perfect place to stay in Kyoto. Tomoko is the star of this show! Removed shoes immediately upon arrival, as my hostess, Tomoko, was cleaning the WHEELS of my luggage. She took me to my room, which was allll the way at the end of the ryokan and up the stairs. Poor thing had to lift my heavy heavy bag up the stairs and even though we could not fully communicate verbally, we laughed and laughed about how strong she is for 75 years old. Unbelievable! She showed me to my room. Loved the tatami mats, and the table and chair were set up for dinner en suite. We set a time for dinner and I decided to take a walk to the Yasaka Pagoda in the meantime. I visited the Yasaka shrine, followed by the exquisite and grandiose Yasaka pagoda and made it back just in time for dinner service in the room. Tomoko is seriously the most precious hostess I have ever had in all my travels. We could not really communicate, although she could speak a LITTLE English, while I can speak literally no Japanese other than hello and thank you, yet we just laughed and laughed every time she came into the room. She was so cute and obviously works so hard. It was so fantastic to spend time with her. Dinner was interesting and delicious. I loved the whole experience. After dinner, I was lucky enough to get a private tour and history lesson from the owner himself, Hiro, inside the small traditional tea house on site. Such a special treat to learn about the history and important of tea ceremonies in Japan! After which, I took a soak in the bath before heading out to explore Kyoto by night (at the advice of the owner, Hiro). The bath was just what I needed to refresh the spirit and get my second (or third) wind for the day. I walked and walked and walked and walked some more and found everything Hiro told me to look for. Kyoto is just as beautiful at night as it is in the daylight, if not more so. Pontocho Alley was fascinating and sooo cool! I got back to the ryokan, absolutely exhausted, just before midnight. I literally could not take one more step. I got to my room and Tomoko had changed the room over for sleeping. The table and chair were put away and the futon mattress and comforter were all ready and waiting for me in the beautifully dimly lit room. When I arrived, I noticed that Tomoko had left a little note wishing me good sleep, and a piece of fruit for a late night snack. Breakfast seemed to come way too quickly after my late night of exploring. But it was worth it to see Tomoko again and try all the interesting and delicious Japanese style breakfast items. I made sure to take a stroll through the on-site Zen garden, admiring the fountains, statues, and fauna. Everything just flows so well … so peaceful, yet so invigorating. This was by far our favorite hotel in our 2 weeks in Japan. They were very nice and helpful, let us check in early, and made luggage forwarding easy. Plus, the room had lots of great amenities, including a balcony and an incredible tub (the microbubbles were a life saver after a long day of walking!) The face masks were a nice bonus, since my skin did not take to Japan very well. And breakfast was amazing, and served in the room, every morning. On top of all that, the location is amazing: overlooking the river, extremely close to Pontocho, only a few blocks from a major train station.
