Arashiyama/Sagano/Takao
My wife’s birthday trip at the Suiran was a dream come true. With successive Covid cancellations, it took us four years of planning, but it was worth the wait. With their traditional Japanese structures and landscaping, the Suiran was our oasis of calm during Kyoto’s busiest season (cherry blossoms). We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and the best breakfasts of our lives in their dining room, and blissful riverside happy hours in their cafe. Our comfortable room had all the amenities, and a soothing minimalist aesthetic. The Suiran staff is spectacular: thoughtful, gracious, attentive. Through our years of planning and days of enjoyment, we were guided by Suiran’s chief concierge, Hiromi Maruyama. Her kindness, patience, and expertise added greatly to the success of our time in Kyoto. Her suggestions and insights, and good spirits were a beacon shining our way. We are indebted to her for her efforts on our behalf.

This hotel is incredible ! It’s brand new, rooms are very upmarket, great facilities, quality of food (breakfast needs to be experienced to be believed), gym was excellent but it is the service that is absolutely mind blowing ! We haven’t experienced anything like it decades ! The check in experience was first class, room service first class and the concierge managed to surprise us every single day - running after us with umbrellas, chasing down taxi’s in the rain, big smiles every day and they were all really nice to our 5 Year old daughter (and it was genuine) ! So, we left our passports in the room safe by mistake - they called as soon as they found them (by which time we were in Tokyo) - the hotel manager, Kiyoshi Gomamoto sent one of their staff (Kokoro) to Tokyo hi hand deliver/return our passports to us, she was a lovely lady ! We are so appreciative and will cherish the memories from this hotel ! Thank you Kokoro, Kiyoshi and everyone at Fauchon. Highly recommended !

We receive many tour groups There were so many people at breakfast. The room as a whole is like this. Very small. There is a large bath, but there are always many people. If you have a lot of luggage, you may consider staying closer to the subway. This hotel is a bit far from the platform.

We were lucky to get the first room beside hotel entrance. This is a modern ryokan that comes with breakfast. Hotel opened only 3 years ago and has only 7 rooms. There was ample space for us to open our 20” luggage. Bathroom provides full amenities including Pola toiletries and comes with a standing shower and a private onsen. A travel adapter was provided although both sides of the headboard already has USB sockets. There's a dining room which provides unlimited Japanese snacks, ice cream, tea, coffee and beer (Premium Suntory Malt)!! Breakfast is served at 7:30, 8:30 or 9:30 daily with a choice of fish or Wagyu beef pre-ordered the day before. It's the full traditional Japanese breakfast with rice and soup. The beef is grilled on the spot according to your preferred doneness. Service was detailed as the waitress took the trouble to remember our individual preferences from the day before. Every staff speaks some English which is rare for a ryokan. They were friendly, responsive and very helpful. One of them gave us suggestions on what we could do and offered to make reservations for us. Hotel is just 5 min walk from Marutamachi Station exit 5. Just cross at the pedestrian crossing when you reach ground level and walk into the lane between the buildings. Turn left at the 3rd junction. After 50m, Hotel is on your right. This place is near Nishiki Market. Stay was really enjoyable and will definitely be back!

Kyoto Station
This is a modern minimalistic boutique hotel that we enjoyed! The design of the hotel has zen elements (the creative zen garden layed vertically against the wall) that I really loved. The room itself is more of a wooden theme that is cozy and relatively spacious for Japanese hotel standard. There is sufficient space to lay the luggages and also to sit (a luxury in most Japanese hotels). However, the hotel is slightly further from kyoto station and require some walking (which is inconvenient for lugging the luggages as the pavement is bumpy). Also the hotel is situated beside a road and near a hotel, sometimes at night we could hear the ambulance sirens which may be a problem for light sleepers. However, really enjoyed the hotel's own bath house which looks very new and clean. It is equipped with dyson hair dryers and you can have free ice cream popsicles after your bath! A great way to end a tiring day full of walking in Kyoto :)

”Sequence KYOTO GOJO” is a convenient location within 3 minutes walk from Gojo Station and walking distance to Kawaramachi. The hotel was stylish and fashionable, and the rooms were arranged in monotony. 2 The variety of large baths was able to enjoy and refresh both daily. The rock bath and steam sauna were comfortable and the non-life was tasted with a comfortable BGM. It is good to check in at 17 o'clock but out at 14 o'clock, and you can enjoy hotel life without worrying about time. In the restaurant ”THE TASTE” on the 1 floor, guests can eat free until 7:00 ~ 14:00 (L.O. 13:30). It was available for breakfast and lunch and was good value for money. Four kinds of sandwiches, salads, soft creams, made from Miyama milk, and homemade lemonade are ordered with QR code in the seat. I liked the sandwich, soft cream and lemonade. Half buffet has few types, but none of them were very delicious, such as drink soup cake fruit. It was very good, so I would like to stay with breakfast next time.
