This B&B is called ”Goroji” in Japanese. I was misled by the transliterated pattern, and it took me a while to find it. The room is clean. Picture 3 shows its own bathhouse and shared bathroom facilities. Not bad😁

If you go to a ski resort, you can stay here. But to go to the Kusatsu hot spring attractions, it is recommended to have a car. After paying the room fee, other items in the store must be paid for at your own expense. If there are other options, I will not choose here again.

This was my first and only stay at a ryokan so I don’t have much to compare it to. I chose this lodging because of the cats and good reviews on the food. The cats were really sweet and I enjoyed playing with them. I have 2 cats of my own so it was really nice. The food was so beautiful and delicious - the mushroom soup at dinner was amazing. I really enjoyed it. The private bath rooms were very convenient and open 24 hrs. I thought the facilities were clean and very pleasant. The location was very close to the central area and a quick walk to all the important sites including the bus station. The only comment I have was in the morning someone was smoking and the smell got ****** into the 2nd floor hallway so maybe more care should be taken to be sure the smoke stays outside. The host was so nice and sweet and I used google translate to ask questions. The matcha madeleines are so tasty I bought a box to take with me.

In terms of transport: The hotel is not close to Kusatsu Yutian. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the Kusatsu Hot Spring Bus Terminal to the hotel. I don't think it is far away. But it is actually going uphill and then downhill before going uphill to the hotel. It is recommended that other guests go to the hotel to take a taxi to the hotel, do not trust google map. Will not consider staying again, anyway, their target guests are locals. Would rather be better than more expensive hotels near Tangtian.

The staff is very earnest and helped with the luggage and all. They just recently renovated their room with brand new air con unit and new smart lighting with remote and while the exterior may not look dashing, it is very clean and comfortable inside the room. The shared bathroom is clean and often empty as well as they have a few of them.
