The location is good and near the public transport such as the LRT and bus. Also near the shopping area of Jalan TAR if you want to shop for your baju raya. But be warned! There is limited parking space and if you can't find the one provided by the hotel, the nearby parking space is cut throat!

We checked in late but it was a nice and easy check in, they mentioned upfront to get the amenities that they don’t provide in room which was very nice! Overall stay is 9/10 love it just that there’s limited parking
Response from Property: Dear Eve, thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you had an easy check-in and appreciated the information about amenities. We understand your concern about parking and will take it into consideration. We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back soon. Best Regards, Claudia | Guest Relation Manager

Delicious breakfast great design and location. The only downside is the bed is too small it’s single bed, would have been better with a twin. I couldn’t really move around on the bed when i sleep.
Response from Property: Dear Guest, thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the breakfast, design, and location. We apologize for the inconvenience with the bed size and appreciate your suggestion. We will take it into consideration to improve guest comfort. We hope to welcome you back for a more comfortable stay. Best Regards, Claudia | Guest Relation Manager

This elegant hotel was as beautiful as pictured. It's within walking distance of Chow Kit station, and the area around the station has plenty of pedestrian crossings, making it safe to walk around. The locals are also cheerful and friendly. The hotel's breakfast was delicious (you could choose from 8 options). While the amenities were minimal, I was able to get a toothbrush from the front desk upon request.

Response from Property: Dear Guest, thank you for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that the hotel lived up to your expectations and that you enjoyed the convenient location near Chow Kit station. It’s great to know you loved the breakfast selection and found our team helpful with additional amenities upon request. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back for another enjoyable stay soon! Best Regards, Claudia | Guest Relation Manager

Great location, within walking distance to the Row. The decor really suited my taste, and the cleanliness was top-notch. The room was a bit small, but exactly as described.

Check-in was smooth and the breakfast was good. I have stayed here several times before and always had a pleasant experience. However, during this stay it was a bit noisy, as I could hear voices from neighbouring rooms.
Response from Property: Dear RoZ77, thank you for your continued support and for sharing your feedback! We’re glad to hear that check-in and breakfast met your expectations, and that you’ve generally had pleasant stays with us. We apologize for the noise from neighboring rooms during this visit and will look into ways to improve sound comfort. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon! I recently stayed at The Chow Kit – An Ormond Hotel and appreciated its distinct boutique character. The location is strategic, within walking distance to two MRT/LRT stations, making commuting convenient. There are plenty of eateries nearby, and it is close to the shopping stretch along Jalan TAR and SOGO Kuala Lumpur, which adds to its practicality for both leisure and short city stays.
The hotel has a relatively small and understated lobby entrance — we initially missed it upon arrival — but this aligns with its intimate boutique concept.
The room design is its strongest feature. The aesthetics evoke nostalgic luxury, with a deep-toned colour palette and rich textures that create a warm, moody atmosphere. While the room size is compact, it is comfortable, and the bedding quality is good. Sound insulation is well executed with double-glazed glass walls, effectively minimising external noise.
Two bottles of water are provided, along with a water dispenser at the lift lobby for refills, which is practical. There is no kettle in the room. Iron and toiletries are available upon request. The bathroom does not come with a bidet.
One consideration is parking — it is chargeable at RM15, which may feel slightly expensive depending on the duration of stay.
Overall, The Chow Kit offers a stylish boutique stay with strong design identity and good location advantages. It is ideal for travellers who prioritise aesthetics and accessibility over larger room space and full-service amenities.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I'm an open-minded traveler and don't necessarily need to stay in a star-rated hotel, but this place was truly awful! First and foremost, they are unfriendly to Chinese people! Unfriendly to Chinese people! Unfriendly to Chinese people! (repeated 15 times for emphasis). On my first day, after checking my luggage at the front desk, I returned at 2 PM for check-in. They asked me to sign *again*? When I told the afternoon staff that I had already signed in the morning, they actually *threw* the form at me! Not a single 'sorry' from start to finish! And a Malaysian male front desk agent, in a shirt, behaving like that and still able to be a manager?! Seriously! All the reviews about the hygiene are absolutely true, and nothing has improved. The duvet was pilled and had yellow stains, and on the first day, there were even toenail clippings on the floor in my room. Unfriendly to Chinese people! Unfriendly to Chinese people! (repeated 15 times for emphasis). How can they still have the nerve to advertise on other social media platforms with such an attitude? Don't try to make money from Chinese customers!

I love the convenience and location of this hotel. So near the LRT, shopping centres and a lot of hip cafes and restaurants. Room is small which is understandable for a boutique hotel but as we stayed there for 5nites we had a lot of shopping and by a few nights the room felt cramped. Downside is there is no bidet in the toilet which is so small that after a bath the whole toilet floor gets wet. No proper closet to hang clothes. Otherwise the whole aesthetic of the hotel is awesome!
Response from Property: Dear Shamin, thank you for your detailed review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the convenience of our location and the surrounding cafés, restaurants, and shopping and that you loved the overall aesthetic of the hotel. We appreciate your honest feedback regarding the room size, bathroom layout, and storage space. While our boutique concept does focus on compact, efficient design, we understand it can feel cramped during longer stays. Your comments are valuable and will be taken into consideration as we continue to improve our guest experience. We hope to welcome you back again soon! Best Regards, Claudia | Guest Relation Manager

Overall, it was pretty good.
Let's start with the positives: The location is great. It's close to the subway station, and there's a covered walkway from the hotel to the station, which is nice to avoid the sun. If the subway isn't broken, it's very convenient to get around by train.
There are many beautiful and delicious cafes and restaurants nearby, all within a 10-minute walk.
The soundproofing is quite good. Despite being on a main road and right next to the subway, you can't hear any traffic from your room. However, you can definitely hear neighbors opening and closing their doors quite loudly.
There's a public water dispenser, but no hot water.
The staff were friendly.
The hotel's breakfast was also very tasty.
Now for the many downsides: First, staying here feels like you're just renting a shell to sleep in. The room completely lacks amenities like toothpaste, toothbrushes, slippers, and a kettle. You can ask the staff for toothpaste, etc., but I wasn't happy about having to.
The room lighting is very dim...
There aren't many TV channels...
I couldn't figure out the air conditioning temperature – I don't know if I just didn't know how to adjust it or if it couldn't be adjusted. I fiddled with it for a long time without success. It would also turn off by itself after a while, then turn back on again, leading to inconsistent temperatures that were neither hot nor cold enough...
Most importantly, there are no power outlets by the bed! You can't charge anything there!

We’re glad you enjoyed our convenient location, soundproofed rooms, tasty breakfast, and friendly staff. Your comments about nearby cafes and accessibility are also appreciated. Your observations have been shared with our team as we continuously look for ways to enhance guest comfort and convenience. We truly appreciate your honest review and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for an even better stay. Best Regards, Claudia | Guest Relation Manager

We had to switch to another room at 1am because the air con was not good. It kept switching to 28C automatically. Breakfast was ok, not buffet style breakfast. Toilet also has no bidet.

The hotel environment is absolutely beautiful, with a lovely Nanyang (Southeast Asian) flair, and the lobby plants are lush and vibrant. On the night we checked in, we saw them decorating the Christmas tree, and by breakfast the next morning, it was already fully set up! The hotel doorman was particularly charming; he always greeted us with a smile when we entered and exited. Once, when I ordered Grab food and was about to go downstairs to pick it up, he waved me over, letting me know he had already placed it inside for me. All the staff throughout the hotel were incredibly nice and very welcoming.
