Hotel Copernicus

Krakow|0.37km from Makieta Wawelu
A review based only on a Spa experience. After a previous visit to Hotel Copernicus last year, we decided to return for a Spa day. The hotel is expertly renovated and stunning inside, boasting a modern interior whilst maintaining the charm of the historical building. The lobby is extremely charming. The hotel itself has 29 rooms and is in high demand, and it’s obviously to see why. The location is perfect with the castle just a minutes walk away. The main square is also easily accessible, about 5-8 minutes walk down the Main Street which is bustling with shops, attractions, and museums. Now, about the spa. This is located in the cellar of the hotel and is once again, finished to an extremely high standard. The cellars are accessible via both stairs and an elevator. The spa is not large by any means, and the low vaulted ceilings provide a very cosy and intimate environment. Your first view is a crystal clear-blue pool, which reflects the light across the ceiling and walls creating a mesmerising dance of the light. To the right is a small check-in desk and immediately behind this is a quaint changing area furnished with lockers, a sink area, and shower. The spa is affiliated with L’Occitane and so all the products are branded as such. As expected, these products are top-shelf and smell incredible. In the lockers, bath robes and slippers are provided, and towels are liberally placed around the spa for your convenience. As a male with size 11 feet, I stood no chance squeezing my spade-like feet into the dainty slippers. I asked for a bigger pair and was provided with an identical, one-size-fits-most pair. Needless to say, I was also unable to wear these but I am used to this so bought my own sliders for the occasion. Next, into the relaxation chamber. Two large reclining beds are located here, on the floor. Very comfy and relaxing environment. Many candles (electric imitations) are present and the atmosphere was so calm I lay down and had the most amazing Power Nap. Free water (bottled) is provided. There is also another shower with an assortment of yet more L’Occitane products. A small sauna in the corner was set to 99° Celsius - and certainly felt it. I managed to endure 10 minutes, but would struggle to stay longer due to the heat. The pool itself is relatively small, but the atmosphere is unparalleled. And due to the need to book a treatment to access the spa, was deserted. The pool itself is amazing, and although heated, is at body temperature. The real star of the show was the treatments. My partner and I both booked facial treatments. 60 minutes for approximately £70. Not exactly cheap by Kraków standards, but this was by far the most amazing experience. The smell of lavender and other essential oils was incredible. The masseur was equally brilliant and I left feeling the most relaxed and stress-free I have been in years. Hotel Poleski

Krakow|0.3km from Makieta Wawelu
Plus point is the view, IF you get a river view. Half the rooms don't have one, so be specific. Nothing else is good. Why else do you think it features so highly in their own adverts? There was perhaps a time when the hotel was great. But it has not been maintained. The rooms are bare, with a horrid rough carpet and they give the impression of being from a museum of life under communism. The breakfast was very poor. Coffee machine worked intermittently. Little variety or choice. I've had better breakfasts in several Polish youth hostels. As I sat down to breakfast, I found a dollop of congealed yoghurt and crumbs on my seat. This did nothing for my appetite. My main concern is that I booked a room late on a Friday. I knew it wouldn't have a river view - see from my pictures what view it did have - But I did hope to sleep. That hope never materialised. They gave me room 11, which is right underneath the motor for the air conditioning in the whole hotel. I tried to sleep and couldn't, being kept awake by frequent intermittent banging noises from the pipes overhead. They knew what they were doing when they gave me that room. At 2.45am, I got the receptionist to come up snd listen. he agreed it was awful. Then he went downstairs and turned the whole system off. it came back on again at 7am. Waste of time. Laughably, he tried to claim the noise was my air conditioning. But he had to be quiet when I pointed out it was not even switched on. They cynically exploited a lone foreigner, hoping he wouldn't complain.

I had a wonderful experience. The interior is sighingly beautiful, and the staff speak beautiful English and warmly face you. The location is perfect in the old town and the great restaurants are also available in the series. It was a hotel that felt more value than the price.

The hotel is located near the Wawel castle, with river view and old town, very close to the places to travel. You make a wonderful slope in the mornings. They have clean and comfortable rooms. Especially the staff friends at the reception are very close and helpful. You can stay closed. Also they are offering welcome drinks at the roof bar on the first day.

Stradonia Serviced Apartments

Even before we arrived the staff helped us arrange transportation to auschwitz on our trip. They couldn't do enough to help when we were there. The rooms were modern, clean and spacious. I had a 2 bedroom apartment which was plenty of room and decorated in a modern way. The beds and pillows were so comfortable. Our friends had a one bedroom apartment, it was gorgeous with more living space and 2 bathrooms. The studios was pretty small, but equally as nice, especially if you're hardly in there. The only thing I would say is ask for top floor if possible, as we did have some noise from residents above, but it wasn't unbearable. We had no view, looking at the courtyard, so maybe you could request that too . But we cannot fault Stradonia, and would definitely recommend it. The location is spot on , near the river and castle, and right in the middle between the old town and the Jewish quarter.( about 10/25 min stroll to each) And for breakfast, the bakers a couple of doors down was amazing, as is Krakow.

Retro style hotel, very close to Wawel Palace, the single room is only the same as the fifth of the seven pictures, I was allocated a loft space, the bed and shower room are not as big as the ensuit apartment I live in, but the front desk service The attitude is good and the experience is not bad, so I can give a high score
