Welcome - we were greeted well on arrival As this was our last hotel on trip we requested for an upgrade. The receptionist said the hotel was full but it wasnt the case when we checked with housekeeping staff. Rooms - The rooms are pretty standard 5 star rooms with partial sea view from the room we stayed in. Service - The room service/housekeeping was very quick and efficient but the service at the pool restaurant was very dull and unwelcoming. F&B - The food and the service at the main restaurant was outstanding. This is what saved our good views on this hotel. The manager was more than eager to serve us well. Pool - The pool is very nice- very big and well maintained Beach- The beach was nothing special. Overall - A decent hotel with tough neighborly competition.

We spent two unforgettable nights in Sankarest Villa. We were greeted on arrival by Sanka and welcomed with King Coconut drinks then taken to our comfortable room. For every minute of our stay Sanka and his beautiful family could not do enough for us. We chose to have both dinners and both breakfasts in the in-house restaurant and we were totally overwhelmed. The meals were some of the best we have ever had anywhere in the world, all fresh and hand-prepared by the incredible Sunita, Sanka’s mum, who has run the restaurant for decades. The room was comfortable and the pool a delight. Sanka organized any transport we needed and anything else. If we are ever anywhere near this part of the world again (and I hope we will be) we will make a point of returning to Sankarest. One point: if you are looking for the bright lights, Party Central and loud music, this is not the place for you. It is a very beautiful, serene gem, perfect for relaxing, birdwatching, walking, and an easy tuk-tuk ride to fine beaches and interesting Turtle conservation projects and generally enjoying the splendor of Sri Lanka. All the warmth, beauty, hospitality and matchless food for which Sri Lanka is famous will be found in this little slice of Paradise.
