We visited Taj Bengal, Kolkata on 23rd June to celebrate our daughter's 14th birthday, and we booked two suites with Executive Lounge benefits. Words cannot express how grateful we are to the entire team at Taj Bengal for going above and beyond to make our stay truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the Chief Concierge, Mr. Sanjib, a passionate hotelier who genuinely loves what he does. He made us feel as though we had arrived not at a hotel, but at a home away from home. The attention to detail throughout our stay was simply impeccable. A special mention goes to Carol and Ranjan from the Housekeeping team (the lady wearing spectacles), who beautifully decorated our daughter's room for her birthday. Mr. Sanjib also thoughtfully arranged for the birthday cake to be placed in the room just before our arrival, creating a magical surprise for her. Every department worked seamlessly together, ensuring that no detail was overlooked and that every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations. Another highlight of our stay was the Executive Lounge. We would like to sincerely thank Sumit, Debarati, Sudeshna, Avik, and the young lady on the morning shift for their exceptional hospitality and for making us feel so welcome throughout our stay. Our heartfelt thanks also go to Sourav from Sonar Gaon (the elderly gentleman wearing spectacles), whose warmth and gracious hospitality made every dining experience memorable. I would also like to personally congratulate Ms. Meenakshi Thakur, Assistant Director of Food & Beverage, for her outstanding leadership and for going above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of exceptional. Her genuine care and commitment to guest satisfaction truly reflect the values of Taj. Without a doubt, we will be returning to Taj Bengal. Our children became so attached to the hotel that they kept asking us when we could come back again. That, in itself, speaks volumes about the experience the team created for our family. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to every member of the Taj Bengal family for making our celebration so special. The greatest highlight of our trip to Kolkata was not just celebrating our daughter's birthday, but the beautiful memories we created together at Taj Bengal. As a fellow hotelier, I felt immensely proud to witness hospitality of this calibre. The legacy of Taj Bengal continues through its dedicated associates, who work tirelessly to uphold the finest traditions of Indian hospitality on the global stage. This is what true Indian hospitality looks like—warm, gracious, heartfelt, and unforgettable.

It’s just over rated for nothing u pay for the brand name not the hotel is quite old even they don’t bother to refit The service sucks the reception don’t even tell us what time the breakfast serve and where they serve

Sad state of affairs at Taj Bengal. My recent stay at Taj Bengal Kolkata with my senior citizen mother was nothing short of a disappointment, and I feel compelled to share my experience. As someone who has stayed in numerous Taj properties over the years, I expected a certain level of care and service, but what transpired during our visit was unacceptable, especially considering my mother’s sudden ill health during our stay. Firstly, despite informing the hotel well in advance about our requirements, including a preference for a higher-floor room with a view, we were given a room that completely disregarded these requests. When I tried to address this at check-in, the staff showed no willingness to accommodate us, citing excuses that felt dismissive and unempathetic. Given the premium nature of this property, this lack of attentiveness was shocking. Adding to the distress, the room we were given had serious maintenance issues. There was water leakage both on the floor and in the bathroom, making it unsafe and unhygienic. Despite raising these concerns with the staff, the response was sluggish and lacked urgency. The air conditioning in the room was also ineffective, leaving us uncomfortable throughout the night in Kolkata’s humid weather. The most disheartening part of our stay was the complete lack of empathy when my mother fell unwell. Given her condition, I requested a late check-out by just two hours to allow her some rest and recovery before our departure. To my utter disbelief, the staff refused, displaying a level of rigidity and insensitivity that I have never encountered at any reputable hotel. It was deeply disheartening to see such a lack of basic human compassion, especially for a senior citizen in need. Overall, this experience has left me questioning the standards and ethos of Taj Bengal Kolkata. From poor service and unresponsive staff to glaring maintenance issues, this stay was far from the hallmark of luxury and hospitality that the Taj brand claims to uphold. I would strongly advise against staying here, especially if you’re traveling with elderly family members or expect a basic standard of care and respect.

This hotel exceeded expectations with its elegant rooms, ideal location, and exceptionally warm, professional staff. Their attentive service made our stay truly unforgettable. Highly recommended!
