"A great stay right by Cuihu Lake.
I spent two days in Kunming, and the hotel's proximity to Cuihu Lake was a major plus. Its location is excellent; you're at Cuihu Lake just a short walk downstairs and across the street. It's also very close to Qianju Street, the Military Academy (Jiangwutang), and other attractions, making the area perfect for a city walk. This location is particularly unbeatable when traveling with kids, as other hotels I considered (like Nanjang, All Seasons, or Orange) couldn't compare. Being able to step right out to Cuihu Lake is perfect for parents with little ones. There are also shared e-bikes downstairs, making cycling around incredibly convenient. Right next to the hotel is Banpo Xiaoguo Mixian, which is definitely worth trying.
Overall, the hotel service was excellent. The complimentary snowflake crisp at check-in was delicious. The breakfast buffet was also good, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the bread and desserts – they clearly put effort into it, with generous fruit toppings on the pastries. All the staff, including the front desk, were very friendly and accommodating.
The hotel's biggest drawback, as many other reviews have pointed out, is its age. I asked the front desk, and they mentioned it opened in 1998, though it has been renovated since then. By the standards of its original opening, the facilities must have been quite impressive. However, the decor feels a bit dated, the rooms are not spacious, and smart amenities are lacking. The shower is also located inside the bathtub. Despite these points, the redeeming feature is the lovely view from the window – endless blue skies, white clouds, and the beautiful scenery of Cuihu Lake."
