"I stayed here for several days during the May Day holiday and it was very comfortable. The location, in particular, was super convenient! It helped us avoid the crowded West Lake and annoying traffic during the holiday. It's tucked away but still close to everything. Nearby, you can walk a few hundred meters to climb Baoshi Mountain early in the morning. The bus stop is the first/last stop for the Lingyin Temple special line, making it easy to get to Lingyin Temple and Faxi Temple. Huanglongdong subway station is right outside the hotel, and you can also bike to West Lake.
The hotel's garden is very elegant, and the staff are quite polite. The deluxe king room has a very calming style, and the soundproofing is good; no noise from the hallway or anything. The facilities are a bit old, but it doesn't really affect usability, except that the light switches aren't very responsive, and separating the hot and cold water in the shower head is a bit inconvenient.
The breakfast standard is decent. The fried dough sticks, tofu pudding, sesame pancakes, and steamed buns are all quite good. In terms of variety, it's average for a five-star hotel but much better than a standard hotel. It did get a bit repetitive after eating it for several days in a row. The restaurant environment is nice, and sitting outside this season is very pleasant.
The package also included vouchers for Faxi Vegetarian Restaurant and afternoon tea. That day, I was very full after breakfast, and after visiting Faxi Temple, I had a lovely meal at Faxi Vegetarian before continuing to explore Lingyin Temple in the afternoon. I wouldn't specifically recommend going there just for the food; the portion sizes and taste are just so-so. I'd give 80 points for the ambiance, it's very photogenic."
