The Garret

Excellent stay at The Garret — easily a 10/10. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and had every amenity I could have needed for a really enjoyable stay. The bar and restaurant were also well stocked, with a great selection, making it easy to relax without needing to head elsewhere. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Kirkcudbright, so it’s a great base for exploring the town and surrounding area. I actually stayed here while cycling the SWC300, and one of the big deciding factors for me was the secure bike locker in the garden. It was brilliant to have somewhere safe and secure to leave the bike overnight, which is a huge bonus for anyone travelling by bike. Overall, a fantastic stay with everything I needed. I’d happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it, particularly to anyone cycling through the area.

Period property which has kept some of the features. Fresh clean room. Modern efficient shower, although the bathroom is compact. Nice choice for breakfast and very friendly/welcoming. Our room at the back overlooked the beer garden and was a little noisy as it was a hot day.

I was booked in for a meal last night here, the food was absolutely delicious!! The service was also excellent, all the staff were warm and welcoming. The place was so well kept and the atmosphere was so lovely. Will definitely be back!!

Walked in to the pub, the football match was on so expected it to be busy. Bar person saw us but no greeting. Told a local at the bar she was going to change a barrel. There was only one table left with a reserved time of 3.30pm. It was 6.45pm so we thought it had been left on by mistake. About to sit down when the stern faced bar person shouted at us "that table's reserved for people eating food" and then walked off . The whole place stank of fried fish (dirty fat?) this coupled with a surly bar person meant we left straight away. Came round the Masonic,what a difference! Such a great welcome, friendly ,clean and efficient.

Awful place avoid at all costs. Went here for a meal while on holiday with friends and I think it has to be one of the most bland, vile food I ve ever been unfortunate enough to have to pay for. Tiny bar - outside ‘beer garden’ not fit for purpose. Beers tasted like pipes hadn’t been cleaned in years. Toilets stank of urine. Go elsewhere as this place wasn’t worth the money spent or visit.

Beautiful room above the pub.. have stayed in some not so nice pub stays before and this was wonderful!!! Nice walkable town, food was great in the pub and breakfast lounge. Friendly staff from check in to check out.

Quaint facility. Very friendly staff, people get to know you over the stay and look after your needs

Good bar food, and excellent breakfasts. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the twin room was comfortable.

Plentiful and delicious food. Quiet position in the town.
