As this wasn’t an hotel, I should have managed my expectations. We were met in the bar by the Bar manager/Landlord, who was very welcoming. The access to the rooms was up precarious stairs (don’t were heels), past kitchen/storage areas. We had booked an Economy room as that was all that was left. It was New Years Eve and the hotel in town would only accept bookings for two nights, which we didn’t need (we were attending party at nearby Glenmore House). The door to our room couldn’t open property as the bed was obstructing it, so we had to squeeze through. The bed linen and towels were spotlessly white, but unfortunately the room smelled unpleasant and stale. The toilet and sink were very clean, but unfortunately the shower had hairs in it from a previous occupant (long and black; I have blonde hair), which made it unusable for me. I don’t now whether that is the standard of all rooms above pubs, but in future, I will stick to hotels. I was glad to leave in the morning.
