Amboseli Eco Camp

Good rooms, great food (we had breakfast, lunch and dinner). The staff were very welcoming and accommodating and it made for a lovely experience. The location was very convenient as it was close to the Park and you are able to see Kilimanjaro from your room.

It is so eco, the light goes off when you take a shower. It is so eco, when you walk in the house it feels like you are on the sea ;) I really enjoyed my time here. Yes, it is very simple and not a safari resort holiday kinda thing but perfect for an affordable weekend in Amboseli. The drive to the gate is about 30 minutes. The hosts are very friendly, the food is simple, good and the same for all guests. Request for just vegetarian food is no problem. Bring a head torch and don't roll over too quickly in your bed.

This place is basic and is made for hostel goers, campers or people who are used to basic amenities. This is projected in the price and what you see is what you get. To be honest the value it has in the experiences cannot be sold. You are at the foot of the mountain with amazing views that you cannot put into words or pictures. Only seeing it can justify the view. The food from the chef was exceptional and is extremely good value for money. We took a safari tour with someone called Wilson who is a Massai. The price is very good value for money and he knows the park like the back of his hand. I would recommend him to anyone visiting the park. I also visited the Massai village which was a great experience and only around the corner by walking. Be aware they do try to hard sell at the end of the visit and it is not value for money. Be confident to say no, they will not take offence. On our final night I could hear a celebration in the distance and took a walk towards it. I was greeted by the Massai who invited me to attend the ceremony of the boys becoming adults. It was absolutely incredible to see the culture in this way. Christine who works there was a brilliant host and very kind and honest. In fact all people we met at the eco camp, even a driver called Emmanuel who the camp arranged for us were some of friendliest people I have ever met. If you are looking for a true experience of the area just stay at this place even for two nights. It’s also super close to the park.
