A perfect hotel, the best we stayed at in the UK. From the service to the room amenities and bedding, everything was five-star quality. It was cold when we arrived, but the room had heating that worked, and there was a heated towel rack. The lovely receptionist was incredibly friendly; she upgraded our room, escorted us to it, and even helped us exchange some change the next day. The hotel's public areas are spacious, with a dedicated games and relaxation area. The scenery outside is also beautiful; it truly is an oasis of tranquility! Aside from the slightly remote location, best suited for those with a car, I couldn't find any fault with it.

The hotel is nestled in a scenic valley in Keswick, within walking distance of the lake. Parking is free in the front yard. There is an elevator. The rooms are small and poorly heated, making them a bit cold. Breakfast is à la carte, but you can only order one item, which is somewhat odd.

Just as lovely as we remember! Rooms were great; the location, of course, is still awesome - so peaceful with stunning scenery. The food was excellent! Lots of choices for breakfast, with excellent local Cumberland sausage and other products. Dinners were exquisitely prepared, delicious, and the amuse bouches always a surprise. Hazel looked after us brilliantly in the dining room, and gave excellent advice for local and Scottish sightseeing. We hope to be back - we have visited many times over the years.

I really enjoyed my one night stay here. The room was extremely comfortable with nice soft furnishings. The bathroom and shower were modern and attractive. The location was a lovely countryside setting. There was a very comfortable lounge area, again nicely furnished. The food in the restaurant was what set it apart as it was superb. We had both dinner and lunch there. Top notch. I would stay again but I did think that staff need maybe a little more training in the dining room. (Not much asking if things were ok or if we needed anything). Also there was nowhere to change properly after a long hike before lunch but after check out. The toilet was too small to take even a small case in. There are some lovely walks nearby.
