A peaceful ambience in a top quality hotel. Staff, service, food, rooms were all amazing and we will definitely make plans for a return visit.

We are repeat customers from the US and London and absolutely love this place. The value for money is truly unmatched, and the staff are all simply wonderful — friendly, obliging, and helpful. We had a large party this most recent stay with many requests, and the staff were prompt to fulfill all of our requests. The surrounding area is also lovely, the canal path, the Well, and the small onsite farm providing plenty of refreshing country entertainment. Would recommend!

A beautiful, charming, unique hotel. We were a group of 6 friends. The treatments in The Well were fabulous & we also used the hot tub (book before you arrive). The food throughout our stay was 5 star. The rooms were all different - all beautiful, comfortable, clean with a great view of the lake and the cherry blossoms. We used the bikes and went for a cycle along a very safe cycle path along the canal- highly recommend. A really magical place

We enjoyed a lovely stay. Everything was on hand and any promises made were fulfilled without question. The little village is beautiful and the rooms did not disappoint. Evening menu is for the foodie and while we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, we were delighted that the chef went above and beyond to accommodate us. Well done to all the staff. They are running a good show.

We stayed two nights at the Cliff at Lyons in January. This is a beautiful resort, not your conventional hotel. I will be honest I was disappointed when we arrived to discover the reception in one building, the bar and restaurant in another and the rooms were located in various other buildings on the grounds. So, you had to walk in the dark and rain to go to the bar for a drink or for dinner. Sometimes it is nice to be contained in the one building. The rooms were clean and beautiful. While I felt there was something lacking with the “hotel”, the staff made up for it. Every staff member was absolutely lovely. When I made the reservation, I was asked if we had any dietary requirements. I stated I was a vegetarian and my other half could not have anything to spicy. I was disappointed to discover at dinner there was only one option for Vegetarians. They did agree to make me a salad for starter as I didn’t want soup and I had the risotto for main course which was delicious. On our second night the menu was unchanged from the previous evening and they obliging made a beetroot salad with goats’ cheese and Gnocchi for main course. Breakfast was spectacular plenty of choice for everyone. My argument is - in this current climate when there are more people than ever eating plant-based diets why does it always feel we are an afterthought. (I was in Mount Juliet two years ago and I was stunned to see they had a separate menu book for vegetarians and a tasting menu – best food I have ever had in my life). The spa was lovely. Again disappointing. We had a 30-minute treatment included in our package and they had to squeeze us in as they had no appointments. We were hoping to have a number of treatments but that wasn’t to be. Seemingly the spa is not open on Monday or Tuesday. So, for anyone planning spa break book well in advance. Would I stay again – I don’t think so. I prefer the traditional hotel where you can walk downstairs or down the hall to the bar for a drink. The redeeming qualities of the Cliff at Lyons are the staff. So, if you like something different then this may be the place for you.

Went for a night over Easter. Tried dinner bed and breakfast package and used the spa. Started with a check in was for 4pm but arrived early and room was ready 1 hr early. This was good but evidence the room wasn’t actually clean appeared later. Room was a good size but few things were off. We started with a trip to the spa it was just the hot tub and sauna area but 4 couples were there it was a bit overcrowded certainly too many for the hot tubs. Bathrobes were not clean pockets were hanging off and pockets had the last users belongings inside!! Back to the room went to clean up before dinner. No shower gel…evidence again room wasn’t properly cleaned and I. General had that feel overall. Room had multiple windows but worryingly 1 did not close on ground level (and can’t it’s built wrong) so if you are ok with that while you sleep. Safe also was dead and didn’t work. Went for a pint in the side bar away from main restaurant. Aimsir was closed unfortunately though not advertised as closed. Drinks were ok service was slow as bar was in another room. Dinner was much better than expected had nice steak main. End of night tried to sleep but the ceiling is so paper thin heard every movement from upstairs until 2am. Really poor construction. The whole room was tired interior for that matter. Scuffs everywhere tired carpet broken blinds. You cannot control the heating in the room either so it’s either freezing or boiling and not when you decide! Had breakfast next day was ok. On check out wasn’t even asked ‘how was your stay?’! Overall was ok for the price but not the breakaway night we hoped for. Would be very upset if we paid the €399 per night rate we paid €199. Overall this cost €400 for additional drinks etc. As I’ve come to expect from Ireland being your wallet and lower expectations
