Asadaya

Kanazawa|1.45km from Nanatsuya Station
We wanted to experience one traditional ryokan during our month in Japan, and we could not have made a better choice than Asadaya. Our welcome was gracious and following a tea service we were shown to our tatami room. We had just spent a week in a western-style hotel in Tokyo, and this room could not have been more different. When the door closed, we sat on the floor staring at each other in our simple suite, and my husband said ”Are you sure this was a good idea?” At that moment, I wasn't sure. Neither of us had experienced such simple accommodations before and we're not bed and breakfast types. But we changed our minds quickly when we allowed the peaceful zen of the place to take over. We fell in love with every single thing about our experience: our beautiful and simple suite, the comfortable beds (made extra long for two tall guys), wearing yukatas, enjoying the family bath (we never even used the in-room shower), afternoon tea, and the over-the-top kaiseke meals served on the most gorgeous dinnerware you'll ever see. It's hard to put into words the level of personal and respectful service we experienced throughout our three night stay. By the time we checked out, we felt like honored guests and close family, both at the same time. As we continued our travels through Japan, we met several natives of Kanazawa who live in other cities. Each of them knew of Asadaya by reputation, and each said the same thing: ”Asadaya is famous in Japan. Asadaya is well-known as one of the finest ryokans. You're so lucky to have stayed there.” Indeed, we were fortunate to experience this traditional ryokan experience. We'll be forever be grateful to sixteenth generation owner Qta, his mom Mrs. Asada, and everyone who hosted and cared for us. We're happy to have made their friendships and to experienced Japan through their hospitality. Tips: Don't miss the D.T. Suzuki Museum, one of the finest pieces of contemporary architecture on the planet and an equal of Mies' Barcelona Pavilion. If you're in town long enough, be sure to visit one of Qta's restaurants. We enjoyed phenomenal teppanyaki at Rokkakudo. Kanazawa is a wonderful small city. We highly recommend a multi-night stay to have the time to relax into it and enjoy all it has to offer.

I’m here now and want to write about my experience as it’s happening. I’m blown away at this property. The beauty, the people, the quiet…except for the waterfall which you hear if you’re outside. I have a balcony room. The AC is splendid! There’s a tub inside the large shower area. The shower water is a little weaker than I normally care for, but YMMV. Breakfast is a huge buffet with very nice options, all Japanese and all high quality. Both mornings, I’ve been served an amuse. Tonight I’ll try dinner for the first time here, and no doubt it’ll be delicious. If you opt out of housekeeping, they leave you a big bag of two each large towels, hand towels and bath towels. Housekeeping is as quiet as a church mouse. I arrived at the Kanazawa train station, and even though I knew that there would be a shuttle bus, and which side to exit from, I didn’t know which one was mine. This information is not on the website, so I’ll tell you that you exit on the west side, and upon exiting, turn to the right, where the group bus waiting area is. And watch for a bus that is white with an orange *****e on the front. One other word of caution. There are two hotels that are named the same. Just because you see the hotel name on the outside, that may not be yours. Do you want to be sure that the driver and the accompanying guide know that the one you want is on this particular street. It’s a really new hotel, as it’s only been open for about a year. I upgraded and got the lounge access and that’s been totally worth it! The afternoon suites are so stunningly gorgeous and there’s a cocktail hour also in the afternoon, but I think it’s really like three or four hours long. The staff speaks their English, but have your Google translate ready for words that they may not automatically know. However, I will say they are extremely eager to understand and please you. I highly recommend this hotel!!

Family 4 I stayed with a person. Twin 2 Room! It was a very new hotel and nice. The room was compact, but very functional and well designed. The TV was large and it was convenient to get various information in the hall. Especially good was the arrangement of the washroom, toilet, and bath! The washroom space is large and I don't feel any oppression at all. It was a clean and refreshing impression. It was such a nice hotel, but there were some points I was interested in. It is the narrowness of the public part. First of all, it is a large communal bath! I was looking forward to it because it has a large communal bath, but this hotel is a hotel where 177 room maximum 389 can be stayed. Of course, it is distributed, but there are only 7 washrooms and 2 wash basins. The lockers are vertically 7 3 columns. At the peak of the evening, because the locker was vertically long, 3 people filled all the front of the locker, changed clothes and wiped the body, and it was very crowded. Also, the wash basin was waiting in line, so I was in trouble. Also, there were few washrooms and there was a waiting. I couldn't enter slowly, so when I went late at night, the bath towels that should have been left were not replenished, and there were only a few towels. Also, on the contrary, it seems that towels are overflowing and protruding from the place where towels are put. It was a pity that the hydration machine was not inspected without a cup. The TV in the room is crowded, so it is recommended to check and use it. Next is the restaurant! Breakfast here seems to be filled immediately due to capacity due to reservations. I couldn't make a reservation, so I had breakfast at a nearby hotel. I feel the imbalance of the restaurant size against the capacity. It was a really nice hotel as far as accommodation was concerned. However, I felt that there were difficulties in the public area. If it is a weekday, you can experience the large communal bath and delicious breakfast!

This is by far the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in! Hyatt Centric Kanazawa has a strategic location, located just 2 mins walk from Kanazawa Station. The room is super huge and the cleanliness of the room was kept in tip-top condition, super happy and satisfied with my stay, will definitely come back again!🤩🤩
Hotel Wing International Premium Kanazawa Ekimae

I used it with my family for sightseeing in Kanazawa. It is close to Kanazawa Station and has a parking lot. The interior is beautiful in a new hotel. The unit bath is also very large. However, dust was conspicuous around the air conditioner and in the nanoe blowout. I want you to clean this area a little more. The air conditioner was a little bad, probably because the filter was also clogged. The staff 々 is very kind and comfortable. There was a deck where you could see the Shinkansen and conventional lines, and the children were happy. Breakfast is delicious, but the child who sleeps with the child does not have breakfast, so it is okay to pay, so I think it would have been nice if there was a little rice for children. I still want to use it.
Blue Hour Kanazawa
4.1/51 Reviews
Blue Hour is a nice, comfortable modern hostel about a 5 minute walk from the train station. Honestly it had some of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept on in Japan and my larger trip. The beds are pods too with a privacy curtain, light and mirror inside. The privacy you get is so nice. The female dorm also has a small seating area just for its guests and a small fridge for breakfast. The female dorm is also key code locked and has its own bathroom. The small grocery store in the building is a great feature too. I was here in summer and have a few items to be aware of: - There is Air Con in the dorms but it doesn’t get in to the bed pods so those can be toasty - The air con in the female area also isn’t very strong but it’s not too bad - Great WiFi speed - No laundry but laundromat nearby - This is on the third floor and there is NO lift. So the walk up with luggage is hot My only issues were that staff didn’t speak much English and gave misinformation about how to get around the city. Just go to the train station and get help there. I also had an issue with my bed but staff took care of it the next day at my request. One last thing, the dorm area can be loud, especially with suitcases knocking around and people coming in/out of the locked door. Overall, I would stay again and recommend it for a short stay.

~ Breakfast 800 yen one day in advance, but not eaten ~ Single room, still good, clean and no smoke ~ The hotel only provides toothbrushes and no comb razors. With hair dryer, shampoo, liquid soap ~ Seven minutes walk from Kanazawa Station ~ Convenient for children, free coffee on the first floor ~ There is a very famous ramen shop nearby
R&B Hotel Kanazaweki-Nishiguchi

I took the airport bus from Komatsu Airport to the west exit of Kanazawa Station, and first I left my luggage at this hotel and went to Kanazawa city sightseeing. It takes less than 5 minutes to walk from the west exit of the station where I got off the airport bus. Accommodation is reasonable with simple breakfast for a fairly close distance from the station. The city sightseeing is convenient to use buses from the east side of Kanazawa Station, but there is no distance from this hotel to the east exit of the station. The room is clean, but there is a feeling that it is a bit narrow. In the morning, it is a snack centered on bread. When you leave the hotel and go to your left hand, there is a street with a lot of traffic, but there is a convenience store when you cross. We were able to stay comfortably.
Garden Hotel Kanazawa
4.3/545 Reviews
I stayed at Kanazawa Garden for three nights and here are my special comments: Convenient transportation, 2 minutes from JR The hotel's breakfast is rich and cost-effective at 1,200 yen per person. It is recommended to buy it. The main attractions are half an hour's walk away, and it's not easy to get to the Kanazawa attractions by car. Room facilities: It is indeed quite old. It should have been opened in 1983, but it is not shabby. Hygiene is acceptable. My room is at the end of the corridor without any view. I can only see the wall of the building next door outside the window. The service was rather rigid. I went hiking one day and didn't have time to eat breakfast, so I couldn't help pack some to take with me, which resulted in a waste of meal tickets. Asked the receptionist who knew English at the front desk why, he replied: regulations.
