I was surprised by the affordable price for the dorm room bed, the owners were absolutely the best and the view of the bay is unbelievable. Perfect for me as a backpacker, would 100% recommend. Book ahead as it fills up quickly!

the kaikoura seaside lodge provided for us exactly what we needed – a roof over our head and a toilet/shower! it’s very much a backpackers’ place – there seemed to be a lot of settled in regulars who were very comfortable around the place. there’s a lovely communal kitchen/dining area with a great view, but no spare food on offer to make sure to bring your own dinner/breakfast – especially as there’s not really anywhere super nearby to eat if you don’t have a car like us!!! the toilets/showers were very basic and felt a little icky but i think that’s just the vibe of a shared bathroom. the water temperature & pressure were perfect. good distance walk to the seal colony. for anyone wondering, there is also a kaikoura shuttle van service you can call and take you/pick you up to save the walk!!!

Loved the extended family vibe of cats Arthur and Neil. xx View was one million dollars! Location was perfect for us to catch up as a family. We loved the communal area.

This was a great place to stay - the kitchen has incredible views of the water. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a private room with shared bathroom which was great.

Kaikoura sea Side Lodge is a friendly lodge with excellent facilities. All you need for your stay and adventure is there with affordable charges and fees. The lodge is situated just alongside the road facing the kaikoura beach and the sights of the beach and bay is fascinating. The lodge is quiet all the time and you will really enjoy your stay and comfort of the facilities provided. When I am visiting Kaikoura again, that's definitely the choice of my accommodation.
