I have stayed at the R&F Princess Cove many times as I love the facilities provided and the amenities around, at the old wing and the new one. I always booked my stay with ******, but somehow I decided to try and book this room through Trip.com. This unit is run anything but like a hotel. I'm going to break down the good and the bad.
Good -
As I've mentioned above, the facilities provided is good, like the gym, pool, table tennis, snooker room etc. But this is more of what R&F Princess Cove provides rather than the company running this holiday unit. Unit is satisfactory cleaned. Extra cleaned towels and toilet paper given but you have to ask for it (this is probably what save this unit from a lower rating). WiFi is good. Low cost.
Bad -
So unlike KL where I stayed in a similar type apartment style, where it was run like a hotel, with a proper concierge and front desk, there was none of this. They advised us to contact them a day before checking-in to provide further information on procedure to check-in, and I did but did not get any respond. When we arrived, we didn't know where to go to collect our keys, the security guards didn't know where the office was, and it was only 45 minutes after messaging and calling them, did they return to our text. So to store our luggage, we had to find a Chinese provision shop and put it there (here is where you collect your keys too). The cashier at the shop couldn't speak English and couldn't understand that we wanted to store our luggage, even after showing the text communicated with us with the unit management. Had to go and ask a security guard, but he took didn't know where the "office" was. So I tried again and enter the shop, this time there was a man with a notepad and I asked him if this was the right place to "check-in" and store our luggage, and he said 'yes'. Strange to be storing your belongings in a provision shop. Then coming to the room, the TV was not working and highlighted through WhatsApp to the management about it. They said that they have brought it up to their team. After one day, no respond from them, so decided to text them again, only to be informed that the "team" has gone off due to it being a weekend. Fine. Waited till Tuesday to ask for new towels, toilet papers and also on the TV, but was told that the "team" can only fix it next week. What? We will be gone by them. The funny thing is we searched through the reviews and found a similar complaint in October 2025 about the same issue. That means it may not have been fixed from then till now.
The bed sheet and comforter also had a strong musty smell on it. We had to buy a fabric spray to at least mask the smell. There are no cups provided, only 2 glasses, and I'm expecting the 2 complimentary coffee mixes given are supposed to be served in those drinking glasses. Even though I mentioned that the unit was satisfactory cleaned, my wife accidentally found a roll of toilet paper underneath the cabinet below the sink on the second last night. That means the housekeeping team did not do a proper job. There is a washing machine in the unit, but it does not come with a dryer, although it was stated that it is. No detergent is provided, this was expected as we asked ahead and we brought our own. Also we had to clear our rubbish after checking out like most ******, except that this is not one. So if you are expecting this unit to be run like a hotel, you will be truly disappointed.
Overall -
If you pay for this kind of cost for top notch service, you will be terribly upset. Keep your expectations low and you will find this stay at the very least satisfactory.
