I asked the taxi driver to take me to a hotel in town. So, here I was in the Town Hotel and found out later how lucky I had been, it was clean, with all amenities, shower, TV etc. The bosses name is Liong, a Malay/Chinese. He befriended me and took me to various temples, Chinese and Hindu, some out of the way, caves. He also introduced me to some of his relatives and we talked about the old days of the emergency. His father in law was about the same age as me (I was a soldier in Malaysia, during the emergency). He made my trip for me. through memories and hearing about the other side of a nasty secret war. I saw examples that Liong is friendly to most people, his wife has the flower shop downstairs. It is the best hotel I have ever stayed in and I will be back next year.. A large complex located in a wonderful surrounding of plantations and jungle. Large deep pool and spacious rooms. He could only put more effort into cleaning the rooms and surroundings.

Clean hotel

If you visit Taman Negara, there are not that many options where it comes to hotels. So try something a bit different for a change and stay at the Balai Serama guesthouse. We did, and we had the utmost pleasant surprise. First off, you won’t find it. That is why the owners pick you up as soon as you arrive in the village of Kuala Tahan. Be that by boat or by bus. For free, that is. Just call them, or ask a local. Where do you find it these days… The guesthouse consists of a sort of main building where the dining room is. The rooms are situated in a building next to that. In the middle you’ll find a beautiful garden. Ijat, the male owner, takes pride in maintaining it and that shows. In front of the premises, there is the river and jungle. Sometimes elephants pass by. You’ll hear lots of birds singing and the occasional monkey. You will also meet Marja, Ijat’s wife. She is from Holland and she will help you with everything you might possibly need. Be it a car transfer to the jetty, or to go out on an excursion. No trouble at all. The rooms are clean, with a separate bathroom, and a good working airconditioning. It is not that spacious, but large enough for a few days. Out front, there is a terrace with chairs and a small table. The beds sleep well enough for most people. Should you want to enjoy a drink, you can just approach Ijat or Marja. They have a selection of soda’s and beer (no wine) which is then charged to your room and you just pay when you leave. If you want, you can book some excursions through the guesthouse. Especially the whole day jungle tour is highly recommended. It is hard to get an experience like it anytime soon. The whole place has a really laid back atmosphere. No rush. Breakfast and dinner are served in the dining room which is entirely open on all sides. The meals are simple, but tasty and you’ll find that is is good and enough to get to to the next day. I wrote this in English as there are quite a few reviews in Dutch already. Apart from the Dutch guests, you will also find other nationalities so this will make it easier for you to read. I can recommend this place highly. We certainly had a great time and after the crowds and noise of Kuala Lumpur, it turned out to be a gem of tranquility. Taman Negara is a gem in the jungle and all nature lovers will love staying here. Our family of six stayed in the villa for two nights. The villa has two bedrooms, living room and a small dining room and kitchen. The villa is beautifully constructed of wood and has a gallery facing the river. Food options are limited in Taman Negara, but the good thing is, you can order in advance. We made a reservation for our meal early and it was really delicious. They offer many activities. We took a boat trip to Lata Berkon, which has beautiful scenery and is a must-do activity. The overall environment of the resort is amazing and I will definitely come back if I get the chance.

If a room is absorbed due to age, then it is normal. Not normal it is if it is polluted, that must not be. Brand sticks in the carpet, destroy grips at the store, no hot water for it a refrigerator that is warm. The alleged hot water supplier, which was heatly polluting the tiles in the bathroom. The store and the top box in the dresser had to clean first time. To keep quiet of the window, the window bank and the hang - just not touch!!! Fon is there at the reception, the bed was okay, breakfast is rather not international, but also okay (if you don't expect anything) There is also a pool that people who were in there were fully dressed. I don't know how they react when you wear a bath suit as guest. There is no alcohol, clearly. But they don't even produce glasses so you can take another drink outside on the street. There is no tanning cleaner that you could have taken.
