We left here yesterday. Thankfully. We are on a 23 day tour of India. We did not pick 5* branded hotels as we wanted to experience the legendary Heritage’ hotels, this hotel is memorable for all the wrong reasons. On the outside it is picture perfect. Inside looks opulent and sparkly clean. Then you don’t even have to scratch the surface. The front of desk staff are rude and surly. Everything is too much trouble, and hard to explain. I don’t expect everyone to speak fluent English, but I would have expected a basic understanding. Our room had no kettle, I phoned for one. 2 hours later I went down to ask for one. An hour later I went down again. One arrived 5 hours after I’d made my request. The room is filthy. I’ve wiped all the surfaces with antibacterial wipes. They came away black. Floor is dusty and has stain marks. Somethings have been wiped round, but not under, and certainly not with any water or detergent. The towels are grey and dirty with very suspicious stains on them. I actually went to reception and complained I requested new clean ones. At the same time I told them the bin bag out the bathroom had been left on our wash stand by the cleaners, it had not even been tied up. A girl arrived with two toilet rolls. I tried to explain I didn’t need them. She left and eventually arrived with new ‘clean towels’ -well one anyway ( picture attached). 5 minutes later she arrived with more toilet rolls. The toilet itself is grubby. Our shower does not have a glass window but a fixed blind, and is black with dirt. The TV does not work, the only thing it seems to show is pictures of the hotel. We had someone come to look at it. After fiddling with settings behind the TV for 20 minutes it worked. They turn it off and left the room, we turned it back on and nothing. We gave up. When we checked out another couple were telling their tour operator almost exactly the same story. Except they had no kettle, towels or toilet rolls. We’ve advised our Tour Operator that this hotel is not fit for purpose.
