Burlington Guest House

Impromptu trip to Arran for the 1st time in 20 years and with great luck the Burlington was available. Wonderful guest house with incredible views. Duncan is a friendly, wonderful host, nothing is too much trouble. He made 1 of the best meals I've had in a long long time in the on site restaurant. The haggis bon bons starter was absolutely fantastic and fish and chips superb too. Excellent value for money with portion sizes and quality. Fantastic room. Clean. Well equipped with an amazing sea view. Ill be back as soon as I can be with family. What an absolute gem this place is!

Very dirty. Bathroom door doesn’t shut or lock. Shower blocked so badly I had to remove clumps of long black hair and detritus to prevent it from flooding. No light in the bathroom other than a very small battery light ( for a Very small wardrobe type!) and a mirror. Electrical wiring hanging out of wall and double socket with masking tape over it with ‘do not use’ written on it. Underneath bathroom sink, rubbish, hair and dust etc. Not been cleaned for a long time. I could go on but you get the picture.

Couldn’t fault our stay. Beautiful old property with all room facilities modernised and high spec. Amazing sea view, very comfortable bed, powerful shower, great heating system, coffee machine as well as kettle. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were very warm and welcoming. A super trip.

There are numerous electrical safety issues with the room i stayed in, bathroom light did not work, live exposed wiring sticking out of the wall, sockets outlet marked with label stating do not use. TV remote didn't work. USB charger sockets non functional. When you see that amount of issues in one room you know the rest of the builds going to be the same. I 30 years experience in electrical industry This is worst room i ever stayed in from an electrical safety point of view.

Not the first time I have stayed here and hopefully not the last. Stunning location over looking the beach and Firth of Clyde. Rooms were immaculately clean with plenty of tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast was always served piping hot and on time. Staff were also super friendly and engaged warmly with all guests.

Travelled with work but would 100% recommend for all. Great room comfy bed and fantastic breakfast. Bed so comfy I also slept in for breakfast on day 2. Links to local restaurant gives a discount to people staying which is fantastic. Lee and his team were so accommodating and made us feel very welcome. Will be back soon 🙂

Didn't get there because the ferry broke down becuase of an electrical issue. To make matters worse Burlington refused to refund our money, and the women on the phone worse than useless. Avoid them like the plague.

Beautiful view from room 1 and wonderful location. The chef was brilliant with my complicated dietary requirements, which was massively appreciated, and quite rare to find! The guest house was a great base to explore the island, and it is straight across the road to the beach. We brought our large dog with us, as the guest house allows dogs, however our room was up two flights of beautifully clean carpets, meaning we felt very uncomfortable allowing him to play on the beach, so if you are bringing dogs, I'd definitely consider brining equipment to wash them outside. Another small thing is we found out when we arrived that dogs were not allowed in the dining room, which is no problem, but we were advised to leave him in the car not the room, so unfortunately had to cancel dinner the second night as he was really stressed after the first night and breakfast. I'd definitely stay again without a dog, as it was lovely, but I'd maybe not recommended bringing a large energetic dog! There was also a slight lack of local food and drink produce- we would have loved to try some Arran beer! Our final thing to note is that if you have the rooms at the front, with the beautiful views, there is an airbandb next door that sleeps 18- sadly a very rowdy group kept us up both nights as we could hear them clearly through the windows.
