DoubleTree by Hilton Islantilla Beach Golf Resort

Even in the depths of winter, the Doubletree in Islantilla rolled out the red carpet for its visitors. I was in the region for business, and although the hotel is built for Golf, its a great place to stay even if the fairway isn't why you are there. The rooms are comfortable, and I slept well. The Dinner buffet was fantastic, and considering the hotel had maybe 50 guests, nothing was spared with a fantastic spread of local and international food. The breakfast buffet was the same - a great range of super fresh food, and if you like a hot fried breakfast. When I return, I'll stay here.

We have been visiting for several years and we are very disappointed with hotel since it has been taking over by Hilton. The good points are the staff are outstanding and the towels are always large and fresh. However, refurbished rooms have no drawers for clothes only wardrobe and small box type storage. Choice of food is similar and predictable with some unused returned next day. The Lounge which was comfortable and welcoming is now basic wood tables, cold and unwelcoming. The golf course is ok but needs a professional green keeper to tidy up the course if they want to attract more golfers.

Had a great time playing a lot of golf. The staff was very pleasant. Alex especially was a very kind and fun host. Thank you! A very fun long weekend. The golf course is also nice: technically challenging (for a player of my level) and nice greens. And a view of the ocean, although we were too busy golfing to get down to the beach.

We (friends group of 4) have had an amazing experience at the doubletree by hilton resort. The rooms were very comfortable, the wellness options were very well thought of and the food was very varied and tasty. The golf course was very beautiful and challenging with beautiful sights. We particularly were very fond of one of the employees Alex. He always approached us with a big smile and made us laugh with the many nice conversations that we had with him. I would definitely recommend coming here.

Most enjoyable experience from start to finish. Really courteous, helpful and friendly staff in all departments, great setup from the golf perspective, being allowed to leave the clubs with the Caddymaster and so on, tasty food and a lovely atmosphere all round. Particularly enjoyed the spa facility and the outdoor pool area. A five star holiday, helped by the sunshine and the magnificent beach, within fifteen minutes walking distance.

I have visited this hotel several times pre Hilton and was looking forward to this visit as the Hotel had been closed for sometime for refurbishment works by Hilton. The refurbishment is minimal to say the least and the hotel has lost its Spanish theme character which has been replaced with a sp**** IKEA showroom feel. The staff team at all levels are first class helpful and friendly and are a credit to their employer. The hotel is okay although the rooms have a tired feel about them and could do with a makeover. The TV provided by the hotel is useless and especially so if you are English as there is very little to watch. When we visited there was only one self service restaurant available which was used for both breakfast and dinner in the evening. The jacuzzi in the indoor pool was out of action during our visit. The pool changing rooms leave a lot to be desired. The serving staff are mainly plate collectors and coffee and tea is from a dispensing machine “do it yourself” at dinner you get a knife and fork which is to be used with all courses, spoons are provided for sweets. The food is very unpredictable in terms of quality and food left over is often recycled in a different dish the following evening. Servicing of rooms is very slow and is often not completed before 3/4pm on the 3rd floor. This hotel is best for golfers and not ideal for young children. The beach club and transfer service on the road train is no longer available from this hotel and the walk to the beach or village will take you about 20mins. The Hotel doesn’t offer beauty treatments or a hairdressing service. The golf course is as good as it has ever been. Bring your own club’s as the clubs on hire are excellent quality but cost as much as a green fee to rent. The Hotel offers limited evening entertainment on two evenings a week but it does not start until after 10pm. This is rather late if you have early tee time next day. The hotel Wi-Fi keeps logging you out and is quite slow at times.
