Overall we had a very mixed experience from a weeks stay here. The location is excellent with the village 1800 lift directly outside the back door. This lift will also bring you down at the end of the day and a shuttle bus is available to take you into town or a 10 minute walk down the hill. The hotel is clean and tidy but in my opinion needs to decide who it is aiming for for its clientele; families/schools or a younger party crowd. It has very young staff who were not particularly friendly or welcoming although this wasn’t all staff. During our stay there were 2 school groups also staying there and the hotel bar played very loud music through to around 3am on some nights with locals drinking there. One night there was a fire alarm as they decided to use a smoke machine in the bar which set off the fire alarm system at midnight. When challenged about the music and fire alarm issue they explained that they were “not just a hôtel but also a bar”! I am not sure the 8-10 year olds and their schools were told this when booking. We certainly weren’t! Breakfast was fine with the typical options croissants, bread, ham and cheese and a couple of cereals. No fruit was available and we were asked to clear our plates at the end of all meals, which we were happy to do. The coffee machine ran out of coffee on several occasions. Dinner was average at best. I felt it was thrown together and whilst it hit the main food groups it wasn’t very exciting and certainly wasn’t cooked well. Turkey, leeks and creamed potatoes certainly wasn’t what the school kids wanted after a day of skiing and dessert tended to be a bowl of tinned fruit salad or something equally uninspiring like a plain brownie with no option of anything to go with it.. The rooms were good, with plenty of hot water and were warm without being too hot. The boot room was overcrowded as they often are and we couldn’t get our 3 sets of skis and 1 snowboard in ours. The parked a snow clearing machine outside ours which made access tricky. The door locks were pretty poor. We’ve come away with mixed feelings. It’s by far the worst hotel I’ve stayed in in terms of service and the noise issues, but could be really quite good if they decide what they are, have enough staff on who know what they are there to do and make you feel welcomed and sort the evening food out with at least some more options
