This is an ideal beach stay! Room is spacious and facing the sea with awesome sunset. Bed was comfortable. 2 bottled water. Free cocktail and food on 5th floor for an hour. Free bicycle use (need to check condition and use early). Breakfast menu with good spread. Excellent service from everyone in the hotel!

Service from everyone was excellent. Employees all seemed happy to be there. The hotel is old so the noticeable imperfections are understood including the size of the room. It’s a very nostalgic excellent location to stay. I must need to get out more to appreciate the charges for the stay. After paying $500 a night I assumed most charges were covered. I did not notice the fee of $75/night for parking. I understand paying a historical restoration fee being built in to the cost but not charged after. A daily charge of $35 for internet and exercise classes that I wasn’t aware of I felt was also something that should be built in to the cost to stay. From a cost standpoint it’s not for the faint of heart to eat and drink however the quality was good, even the $12 ice cream cone.

Exceptional staff, facilities and stay! I have stayed here on several occasions on business. This time was by far the best. Loews Cornoado took considerable efforts to make sure people felt safe during these Covid times. Staff was both friendly and helpful. Room was great! Overall, a great stay!

Jennifer Rivera-Nichols 1/5 just now on Google I arrived with my mom to check in at this worst San Diego hostel at 1am...ridiculously exhausted. My mom had just paid to park 2 blocks away and we carried armfuls of belongings with us to the hostel. When we arrived, the clerk was like, ”Reservation?” like my mom was speaking Greek. She said nothing and just walked away. Minute later the owner came in and told my mom that I was not allowed to stay there because I'm under 18. She was talking to my mom like a bully. My mom explained to the owner that our room was already paid for, that she had booked it thru hotels.com as a minor + adult, and that it was 1am already...we're exhausted and where else are we gonna get a room at that hour. I kept falling asleep on their staircase during this time because I was so tired. The lady was arguing with my mom about their rules. Meanwhile, the clerk keeps saying to my mom, ”She's just trying to help you.” That's a lie. If they wanted to help, they could have...but they did not. After a heated conversation, the owner says she will allow me to stay. I was relieved. Then 3 seconds later I just heard her tell my mom, ”Nevermind. I don't like your attitude. You need to get off my property.” WTH Really? This mean lady was gaslighting my mom, bullying her, and was mad at us for just for walking thru the door. She could have approached my mom saying, ”Hi, I'm So-and-So, the owner. It looks like there is a discrepancy with your booking. Because we have shared bathrooms here, we don't allow children. I know it's 1am, and hearing this is really stressful, but let's see what we can do to figure this out. Would you be able to accompany your daughter to the bathroom?” Instead she treated my mom really bad like she had done something wrong. We've stayed at plenty of hostels. None of them had a policy saying I could not be there. I was starting to feel really scared that I would not have a place to sleep since I heard my mom on the phone trying to find a new hotel. They were all full or $300. This Gaslamp Hostel owner is anti-children, anti-family, and made me feel like I had caused my mom so much hassle :-( After we wasted an hour trying to check in and get our money back, I tried to cheer my mom up. I was hugging her while she sat on the phone with hotels.com. I told her I could sleep in the car so she would not have to spend more money or be more stressed, but my mom said it's not safe to sleep in the car, and she didn't know where we could park to do that anyway. My mom was crying when we left. We ended up sleeping in a gross motel smoking room. I saw a bug on the table when we walked in. The owner of this cheap San Diego hotel is not a human being. Take the children to play on the weekends, and find that there is no hot water when playing in the water by the sea when going back to the room to take a bath. Called the front desk and waited for half an hour before the workers came to repair it. Because I had reserved dinner, I couldn't wait to fix it, so I had to go to dinner first. Come back for dinner and find that there is still no hot water! Called the front desk again, waited for nearly an hour, and made several phone calls during the call to see the repair. Such a high-end resort hotel, there was no hot water in the room, and the maintenance staff came very slowly! Children wait until 10 pm to have a hot bath to sleep! Called the front desk to complain, asked to speak with the manager, and was told that there was no manager at night ... speechless! Called Ctrip customer service to complain and was asked to take a picture without hot water! Excuse me, how can I make a film without hot water? ? !! Ctrip's customer service said that it would give 100 yuan for exemption. Can you spend more than 6,300 to book a high-end seaside resort hotel, and encountered super mentally handicapped problems without hot water, can 100 yuan solve the problem? ? ?

We had called to check in early because my wife wanted to go get her nails done and I wished to stay at the hotel instead. Ms. Chuong at the front desk was exceptionally accommodating and so polite over the phone. Upon check in, Ms. Chuong and Ms. Cecilia greeted me at the front desk, checked me in with no delay, and even gave me a choice of what floor I would like to stay. There were a few toiletry items I was not able to take on the flight and the ladies at the front desk were excellent at getting me what I needed at no extra cost. Once I got to my room I noticed it was extraordinarily updated, and cleaned from top to bottom by Ms. Anna. Do not get me started on how comfortable the beds are and how quiet the hotel is. I could sleep till noon if I am not careful. Overall very satisfied!

As a digital nomad I frequently travel across California and San Diego is one of my favorite cities. I came across stay classy hostel from a recommendation from a friend and was pleasantly surprised. Stay classy is more like a hotel than a basic hostel. Brandon and Derek the owners are very quick to help and accommodate you at any given moment. I like the fact that they are striving to be a “smart hostel” with digital key locks and upgrades TVs and lighting. They even put fans in the rooms per request of one of the guests. I wish them nothing but luck and think they have a successful franchise on the horizon. I will miss staying at this place as my journey in San Diego has possibly come to a close but I highly recommend it! 5 stars! Ryan
