We arrived on a Thursday night and our first impressions were great- the hotel was bustling, there were people about and seemed to be a variety of options for food and drink. However, first impressions were wrong! Arriving in our ‘deluxe suite’ we were instantly disappointed by the level of cleanliness and overall standard of a room that cost so much (see pictures below). The fans were thick with dust and there were smears all over the windows and mirrors. The bathroom tiles were not even grouted and still had acres in between them from when they were fitted. One tile behind the sink was fallen off and rested against the tap.
I went downstairs to reception and showed their staff some pictures, they offered to change me to another room without issue but when I asked if it was clean the response was to send someone to check- the report back was, “it’s a little grey, better not change to that one.” Having searched their system another suite was available but with a broken TV and not clean- they asked if we would wait a couple of hours for them to clean, which we said OK to and went to enjoy a drink in the beach bar. In fairness to the hotel they offered my family buffet dinner in the hotel restaurant. After eating we went back out to the beach bar and enjoyed some more drinks and the fireworks which were happening up and down the beach to celebrate the end of mid autumn festival. We then went up into the ‘new’ suite- it was cleaner but not suite standard for the price we paid. The bedside lamps didn’t even have bulbs in them! Then we heard a horrific high pitched squeal coming from the bathroom- reception sent someone and he informed us it was the hot water making a noise and we better to just ignore it as the only other solution was to turn it off. Having finally fallen asleep we awoke the next day to what I can explain as the hotel starting it’s end of season shut down- the beach bar was nailed up, the back of the hotel boarded up, all fire escapes rendered useless as there were wooden planks forcing them closed (see pictures). Looking for the roof top bar we followed the signs up to the 31st floor to find that there was not actually a bar at all! We went back downstairs to ask where we could get a drink and we’re directed to the fridge in the hotel shop where we could buy our own to take back to the room. My sons wanted to use the arcade, all machines were shut down and the waterpark closed up earlier than advertised. Reluctantly we returned to our room where we spent the night doing nothing - even the bedroom TV (which was working) didn’t have even 1 English speaking channel available or the option of subtitles.
Breakfast this morning was disappointing- cold bacon and sausages amongst the offerings and no milk alternatives for anyone dairy intolerant. We packed up and left.
I would not recommend booking this hotel- it does not live up to its adverts and is not worth the money they charge.
