Family-friendly Hotels in Huidong

(background: European but communicate fluently with staff in Chinese) The Sheraton welcomed us with a light-flooded lobby in traditional Asian architecture. A warm and relaxing impression. Location： The Sheraton is located between Xunliaowan (10min) and Shuangyuewan (30min), the two major tourist places on the peninsula. The hotel is located remotely, meaning no restaurants or supermarkets are close or outside the entrance. It shares the beach only with the Regal Resort, which is 1km down the beach. Therefore, its quiet and perfect for weekend-getaway from the busy city life. Facilities: The hotel offers 3-4 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool, some remain closed/not in-use (hard to tell). Food: The hotel has a lobby bar which offers drinks and small snacks. We ordered a coffee there to be served at the pool, which was challenging and took some effort, but finally possible. (Chinese speaker) The breakfast restaurant is located on groundfloor serving up to 10:30am. Apart from common Chinese dishes, I am interested in the continental food variety, here the hotel was offering very soft ”french style” baguette, 3 different types of cheese, and smoked duck breast as cold cut. Also, the hotel offered fresh salad buffet with a good variety including olives. For a 5 star hotel, I would expect fresh orange/fruit juice, which I could not find. The hotel offers a BBQ restaurant/bar at the waterfront, so we tried Shaokao around 7pm. we chose a 298Y package for 2ppl. The food quality was very poor and we had to return all sausages and ask 4 dishes to be put back on the BBQ. Any street BBQ tastes way better. First we were told all drinks are included, later a can of beer cost CNY40, So we had to pay additional CNY120. Disappointing experience for a 5 star hotel. Service: Concierge welcomed our taxi and opened the door, but did not offered any help for our luggage. Check-In took almost 20minutes (excluding waiting time) which is long for a 5 star hotel. We were told to go to the room, however, there wasn't clear signage where to find the right elevator to our room. Being at the pool, we tried to order drinks, as the hotel lobby is 10min away. It seems this customer wish is new to the hotel and we had to beg the hotel staff to find a solution for us. For a 5star hotel, I do expect being able to order/buy drinks/water at the pool area. The sunbeds at the pool needed cushions which are quite heavy and were located in a hidden area. (Hard to find for guests, so most guest just used their room towels on the hard benches). I would have wish that there is staff guiding/helping on that task. The F&B staff seems not well trained and supervised. Unfinished drinks have been thrown on the ground in the outdoor areas, food waste has been put in little plastic bags and clients tissues were used to clean tables and get them ready for next customers. We had to ask staff proactively to clean our table of used plates and bowls.

The resort is located about 50 minutes from Huidong South train station. Check in was smooth because we came midweek of the Golden Week holiday. We had a pool and sea view Family room with breakfast and other amenities included. They had quite a few pools in the water park area, the beach was closed off for most of our stay, supposedly a typhoon nearby. There’s a skyline pool, KTV, indoor playground, billiards, archery, table tennis, billiards all for extra fees. It was great the first 2 days!

We had a great time staying at the beautiful Howard Johnson Sandalwoods. The complex is large with many waterslides for young children to play in. However, during winter season most of the pools are closed. The beach belonging to the hotel is also clean. The breakfast spread is fantastic, with a good mixture of chinese and western cuisine. Mina the receptionist manager was very helpful in granting us special checkout extension till 3.30pm as my sister was feeling unwell during checkout and need more time to rest. I will definitely be back again and bring my children along.

The hotel was nice. We were given a top floor room,it was really spacious, clean and had an amazing view!!Amenities and services just as advertised. The location was really convenient, lots of Chinese/foreign restaurants around. The hotel is right at the beach which is great (umbrellas and chairs were paid tho). The buffet breakfast was well organized, food selection was ok, nothing fancy. The hotel is a bit old and is lacking the feel of luxury but overall we were satisfied.

The hotel room that we booked was lovely, great sea view, spacious and was clean. The hotel staff was kind and helpful and they made our stay good. However, the pool was really dirty and their excuse was that it is winter, which was ridiculous (just clean the pool and let the guests decide whether they want to swim or not). It would’ve been nice if they had brochures with activities that you can do around. The breakfast and drinks weren’t too good, would’ve been better if there were options.

We stayed here for 2 days and everything was wonderful!! Thanks Moris for the help the second day, the amenities are great, view from anywhere is beautiful and the service is perfect. Everyone is very friendly and helpful! Will be back again for sure!!!

The hotel inside is much older than on the pictures but it was fine. When we booked in, we were given a different room than what we requested and paid for, but after assistance from the online staff at trip. com it was rectified. Two major concerns were the lack of variety in restaurants and the facts that there are only two elevators for a fully booked hotel of 32 floors... We had to wait very, very long every time we wanted to go up or down for the elevator to reach us, and even then could often not use it because it was too full. The only western restaurant (Loop) about 750m from the hotel offered very expensive drinks and was open only from 12:00. Also, some days we could only order salad there.. 🤔 When we had a parcel sent to us at the hotel, it was for some obscure reason (couriers are not allowed to deliver there..?!), sent to a store 3km from the hotel, and we had to pay 90RMB for someone from the hotel to fetch it there.. 🤔🙄 The last thing that was strange, was the advertisement inside the hotel for a western restaurant, but it was nowhere to be found. Signs pointed in the direction of the basement in Building 1 but we could not find it anywhere, and when we asked around, people were just shaking their heads.. Fireworks up to 1am...😜All along the beach.. Every night... 🤔

The hot spring environment is ok, the price is very high, it is definitely a real hot spring, the skin of the hands will be wrinkled after soaking for a long time, and the skin of the whole body will be smooth. But there are also many shortcomings. When we checked in, we asked the front desk to arrange a quieter room. (Because I read the previous comments that the sound insulation was poor.) After negotiation, the hotel arranged our room in the last room next to the swimming pool. Unfortunately, it is still the same, outside the swimming pool. There is a lot of noise, and the voices and footsteps of tourists walking by and talking are also very clear. Especially in the morning when you are sleeping soundly, someone suddenly walks outside the room, just like walking in your room. Wake up instantly! ! In addition, our car was parked in the hotel parking lot and did not move. When we left the next day, we found that the trailer cover in front of the bumper was missing. We asked the hotel to check whether it was dropped when we came or whether it was a bear child in the hotel. buckled. The hotel couldn't check it because the manager was not there, and said that when the manager came back to check it, he would give me an answer. I haven't received a reply to my comment until now. Although it is not a valuable thing, it shows the responsibility and attitude of the hotel to the guests. Small comments hope the hotel can be improved.

I wanna share my experience of staying in Grand Barony Hotel. First I wanna say that I had a very big room on 27th floor and the view was great. I also liked that there was a tub in the bathroom and a large selection of food in the buffet on breakfast. I wanna praise the hotel’s manager Andy. Andy was the only one from the staff who could speak a little English. He was very polite, added my WeChat since I checked in, and helped me a lot with problems I’ve got and answered any questions I had even during his day off. Even though there were some discomfort things Andy was always trying to compensate those and make my stay comfortable. I thank him cause otherwise my stay would be worse. He asked maid to bring some stuff that they haven’t gave before, to change not working hair dryer and etc. He also provided free breakfasts for me cause there was a problem with swimming pools. The only one was open but not all the time, it was often closed (they were saying cause of pandemic). I also faced the problem with hot water. I had to wait for 5 mins every time I wanted to have a shower to hot water comes. So Andy asked the master to come but master didn’t solve the problem. I didn’t wanna try if another room that might hasn’t have this problem cause it was inconvenient, I was already unpacked and didn’t wanna spend time on it cause they say may be its every room’s problem. The plug in the bathroom didn’t work either. Andy asked if master can come and fix it but i also didn’t wanna spend time on it. In the end of my trip Andy arranged the car to take me to the railway station. During my stay there were not that many people and at times some stuff didn’t work, like lunch and dinner buffet, spa, pools and etc. Some nice places near the hotel were also closed. May be also cause there were not that many people.

The receptionist, Zhong Guanghai, has a very good service. During the whole stay, he can reply and provide assistance as soon as possible. Like it! ! ! The restaurant downstairs of the hotel recommended to us is good for the price, much better than the one at the entrance of the hotel. During the National Day holiday, I stayed for one more night. In the evening, there was a bonfire party and other programs in the hotel. The dolls were so happy. Overall, I was very satisfied during my stay! Will come again next time!
