Het was helaas een zeer teleurstellende ervaring. Denk niet dat we iets tegen België hebben. Integendeel in Antwerpen zijn we dit weekend uitstekend geslaagd voor bruidschoenen voor mijn as echtgenote en 's avonds hebben we heerlijk en gezellig gegeten in restaurant Zin in Edegem. Echter verleid door de 8.8 waardering had ik een suite in hotel Ter Elst gereserveerd. Op zich was het een ruime suite alleen wel wat kaal. Ik. Erwacht dan ook wat glaswerk om uit te kunnen drinken en niet wegwerp plastic bekertjes. Neem dan fraaie papieren. Vervolgens bleek de linkerkant kant van het tweepersoons bed in tweeen gebroken! Duidelijk zichtbaar en voelbaar. Bij de receptie was de eerste reactie dat het jammer was en er helaas geen oplossing voorhanden was. Uiteraard nam ik daar geen genoegen mee. Nadat de man na enig aandringen mee was gegaan kwam er toch een nieuw bed. Toen wij na dat heerlijke diner op onze kamer terug kwamen was dat geregeld. We hadden het wel zo leuk gevonden een kleine geste voor het ongemak aan te treffen. Helaas. Verder wel goed geslapen. Toen naar het horror ontbijt. Allereerst geen borden en vorken. Wij houden dan van scrambled eggs met bacon. Helaas op. Dat lag in de hete lucht oven op te warmen. Voor €20,- p.p. verwacht ik toch echt vers gebakken knapperige bacon en scrambled eggs! Die scrambled eggs hebben wij niet gezien. Vanwege het gebrek aan borden hebben mij vrouw en ik het ruim een half uur later samen met 1 bord met daarop twee half lauwe opgepiepte kant en klare omeletten met slappe opgewarmde plakjes bacon moeten doen. De jus d'Orange kwam uit een pak.en de koffie uit een thermoskan vond ik echt niet lekker. Bij de gratie gods kreeg ik een espresso. Ook het brood waren opgewarmde sneden uit de diepvries. Het was echt niet overdreven druk. Bovendien was iedereen relaxed vanwege het extra uurtje wintertijd. Bij het uitchecken werd ook niet gevraagd of we het naar onze zin hebben gehad. Wij komen daar nooit meer terug!

Convenient location to get into town by public transport. The lobby is nice, clean and cozy. The courtyard is also very nice. It’s got a huge parking lot right under which is also very convenient. Despite the the signs “non-smoking room” it reeked of cigarettes. The kind only smoker’s home does. The room seemed clean but there wears some dust collected in different places. The bed was made in a way I wouldn’t expect from a no-star hotel. Something that takes less than 10 seconds to fix. Reception desk staff was very nice and friendly. Anyway. Not what you’d expect from a Radisson hotel. Judging by the comments so far it seems attention to detail has gone down just recently.

Echter verleid door de 8.8 waardering had ik een suite in hotel Ter Elst gereserveerd. Op zich was het een ruime suite alleen wel wat kaal. Ik. Erwacht dan ook wat glaswerk om uit te kunnen drinken en niet wegwerp plastic bekertjes. Neem dan fraaie papieren. Vervolgens bleek de linkerkant kant van het tweepersoons bed in tweeen gebroken! Duidelijk zichtbaar en voelbaar. Bij de receptie was de eerste reactie dat het jammer was en er helaas geen oplossing voorhanden was. Uiteraard nam ik daar geen genoegen mee. Nadat de man na enig aandringen mee was gegaan kwam er toch een nieuw bed. Toen wij na dat heerlijke diner op onze kamer terug kwamen was dat geregeld. The history of Castle Solhof dates back to 1414 and at one time it was surrounded by moat and castle walls, the moat and turrets of the castle still survive today. Now a hotel the present owners bought the Castle in 1990. The entrance and cobbled courtyard are very impressive, with an ornate fountain / pond and neatly pruned hedges. At check-in the receptionist did not seem at all bothered about Covid and said I should remove my mask as it was not needed, even though I had just arrived from the UK and driven through France! I had a Superior Twin Room (#19) with two large beds. The room was nicely furnished, with maybe a table too many, and I loved the tall windows over looking the front courtyard. One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was for its free courtyard parking and I could see my car safely from my room. I had no meal plan at the hotel so I can't comment on that. My room was very warm and I couldn't see how to control the heating, so I opened both windows! The bed was comfortable and the room clean, but I do hate a shower in a bath with a clingy shower curtain. My room was €99 booked via Expedia.

Duidelijk zichtbaar en voelbaar. Bij de receptie was de eerste reactie dat het jammer was en er helaas geen oplossing voorhanden was. Uiteraard nam ik daar geen genoegen mee. Nadat de man na enig aandringen mee was gegaan kwam er toch een nieuw bed. Toen wij na dat heerlijke diner op onze kamer terug kwamen was dat geregeld. We hadden het wel zo leuk gevonden een kleine geste voor het ongemak aan te treffen. Helaas. Verder wel goed geslapen. Toen naar het horror ontbijt. Allereerst geen borden en vorken. Wij houden dan van scrambled eggs met bacon. Helaas op. Dat lag in de hete lucht oven op te warmen. Voor €20,- p.p. verwacht ik toch echt vers gebakken knapperige bacon en scrambled eggs! Die scrambled eggs hebben wij niet gezien. Vanwege het gebrek aan borden hebben mij vrouw en ik het ruim een half uur later samen met 1 bord met daarop twee half lauwe opgepiepte kant en klare omeletten met slappe opgewarmde plakjes bacon moeten doen. De jus d'Orange kwam uit een pak.en de koffie uit een thermoskan vond ik echt niet lekker. Bij de gratie gods kreeg ik een espresso. Ook het brood waren opgewarmde sneden uit de diepvries. Het was echt niet overdreven druk. Bovendien was iedereen relaxed vanwege het extra uurtje wintertijd. Bij het uitchecken werd ook niet gevraagd of we het naar onze zin hebben gehad. Wij komen daar nooit meer terug!

The history of Castle Solhof dates back to 1414 and at one time it was surrounded by moat and castle walls, the moat and turrets of the castle still survive today. Now a hotel the present owners bought the Castle in 1990. The entrance and cobbled courtyard are very impressive, with an ornate fountain / pond and neatly pruned hedges. At check-in the receptionist did not seem at all bothered about Covid and said I should remove my mask as it was not needed, even though I had just arrived from the UK and driven through France! I had a Superior Twin Room (#19) with two large beds. The room was nicely furnished, with maybe a table too many, and I loved the tall windows over looking the front courtyard. One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was for its free courtyard parking and I could see my car safely from my room. I had no meal plan at the hotel so I can't comment on that. My room was very warm and I couldn't see how to control the heating, so I opened both windows! The bed was comfortable and the room clean, but I do hate a shower in a bath with a clingy shower curtain. My room was €99 booked via Expedia.
