The location is good, very near tram stops and only a short walk to the MTR. I found my room was very unclean, the bathtub wasn't clean and the areas around the drain and switch from bath/shower mode were particularly bad. The towels had a lot of stains and were not appealing, they also have the date when they entered service stitched into them which only made me question the state of it more because they were quite new but exceptionally stained in my opinion. The room was tired and not hugely clean, but the bedsheets were very clean which is the most important. There was also no soap in the bathroom, which didn't help the mood given how dirty most things were. Weirdly the phone was in a particularly poor state. The staff are polite and all speak good English and happily resolve any issues, which was a relief. The bed was firm and thankfully clean (more than can be said for the carpet) but the pillows were frightfully uncomfortable, somehow mushy and brick hard in the centre too. There was a good amount of plugs in good places, and a good hair dryer. The tv didn't work very well, I haven't seen flickery pictures with the weather in decades, so I guess that is nostalgic. The hotel was quiet, and there were no unsavoury or unseemly people around, and the staff were always very friendly and welcoming. Check-in and check out was smooth and pleasant, and my room was ready right away which is nice as often that isn't the case in HK upon arrival, it was also easy to get a taxi. The pool is currently closed, as were all the other facilities when I was there. Another guest complained to me in the lift about the pool being closed as he said that he called ahead to ask and they said it was open but it had been closed for a long time, maybe they are renovating? This final complaint is universal to all hotels in HK but the whole no bottled water no tooth paste "eco" rules is a bit ridiculous when everywhere is absolutely blasted with air conditioning and single use plastic, that is not this hotel's fault. If you are looking for just a basic dormitory in HK then this is adequate, but I can't claim to have enjoyed my time staying here. Although, I also haven't stayed at anywhere lower end than this on HKI so maybe the floor is much lower and I may be spoiled. Also I know a name is just a name, but it did make me laugh that the "grand view" on the sign is what is pictured in my image upload.
