The Grape Leaf Inn

Beautiful place to stay and relax between wedding activities over the weekend. We were greeted in a pleasant, upbeat, lively way that felt welcoming and happy. Loved our king room and bath, inn was cozy and bigger than expected but still quiet and restful. 2 blocks from main area of Healdsburg, restaurants/shops/etc. Loved the outdoor dining/relaxing areas. Nice little things here and there, e.g., cookies, wine, etc., placed out for our pleasure as desired. Breakfast? Amazing! Loved it!

We spent four nights at the Inn, October 30-November 3. We were part of a wedding party. We had most, if not all, of the rooms for the wedding. We loved the feeling of being in a home. The breakfast area and living room area was perfect for all of us. Lots of time to visit with all the guests. Breakfasts were amazing! The wedding couple hosted a brunch at the Inn the day after the wedding, it was perfect! We would definitely return some day!

Location was great, breakfast was nicely done but… the rest left us disappointed. We stayed in the champagne suite, which had very, very limited Internet connectivity. When we talked to the front desk about it and suggested they try an internet booster, they said they were aware and working on it. After five nights there, no changes were made. The room was dingy and not well maintained. We had to ask to have the room swept after housekeeping finished their tasks for the day. The bracket used to hold back the curtain was almost completely pulled out out of the wall. When we brought this to their attention, their response was ‘again?’ The parking for the inn is right behind the two car garage, which houses some of their facilities. It didn’t present a welcoming picture to the inn. While no ice machine was available, they did make ice available in bags. That was fine, but the room where you access the ice was poorly kept, and did not present a favorable image of the inn either. There are many other issues. If you want the location, then this is a place to stay. But we were hoping for something more. This inn needs some TLC. It wouldn’t take much to fix it up; it looks as though it’s been forgotten for the last few years.

This beautiful B & B in Healdsburg exceeded our expectations!! We stayed in the Voignier room and it was perfect. The breakfasts were delicious and gave us a great way to start our day. Vi was an excellent hostess and gave us excellent suggestions for activities and restaurants. She made us feel welcome and very much at home. This is the spot to stay in Healdsburg and we look forward to returning in the future!

Grape Leaf Inn has all the ingredients to be really good, but at the moment, our experience indicates it just doesn’t deliver. On a positive, the location is very handy for the wide choice of eateries, wine tasting establishments and shops in Healdsburg. The outdoor seating/porch area is very pleasant. And, special mention for one of the front desk staff - Ve - who was most helpful and accommodating. It’s these points that have resulted in the 3 star rating. But unfortunately a number of “core” elements were not up to the standard we expected. We were disturbed early on several mornings due to avoidable “operations noise”, and although we advised innkeeper staff of this, it took 3 days for it to be resolved. Some of the staff didn’t come across as particularly guest focussed. Our room needed a degree of “update”. The WiFi was not great, with frequent disconnections and low download speeds. The advertised gourmet breakfast was adequate, but hardly “gourmet”. Sorry, but struggling to recommend.

A perfect choice in Healdsburg! We stayed 4 nights in the Chardonnay room and appreciated the extra sitting room space for our longer stay. We enjoyed everything about the inn - the location; standard of ammenities; the fabulous breakfasts; access to Wilson wineries, but mostly the very friendly, helpful inn keepers who guided us with great suggestions and who were most accommodating on our departure day. We would return in a heartbeat.
