The hotel is a beautiful location and a beautiful resort. However, the service is horrible. The management is horrible. I would rethink planning a trip to this location in the future. It was not enough housekeeping there was not enough towels. We had a connecting room and they only serviced one of the two every other day. We were there for a total of 10 days. I would never go back there.

I had an ok experience, until I fell on the bridge going over the pool an severely lacerated my shin. Right from the start my care was horrible and they will not contact me to resolve this issue. I witnessed several others, slip, trip, fall, etc. I believe this resort is unsafe and negligent. Food was so-so. The beach was beautiful!

Like most people I have a mixed view on this hotel. We stayed 4 nights of a 10 day holiday for my husbands 60th and I’m so glad we were not stuck in this random grand hotel for the whole trip. It is so grand and we loved the history to the place which could be more of a feature. Access to a beach was so nice, really lovely pools, good entertainment, cocktails, omelettes were nice, bedrooms were spacious and well kitted out bathroom. However, we had so many issues which we had to complain about - late luggage arrival to our room, air conditioning not working properly, dirty rooms not made up twice, dirty cold sticky floors, food options were reasonable and they really do try on the entertainment side! Unfortunately we felt the staff were not attentive at all, the whole place had a laid back lazy attitude and it lacked a good housekeeping system. Up side my husband really enjoyed the meals at the gourmet restaurant. I want to give a thanks to Rahul who was so helpful and my men who looked after us at the Pool side - and Elroy, Russell on the beach was the best! and soon to be employed (I hope) Tremaine. I may be back to see how the improvements play out!

Stay as far away from this hotel! If there is a run down shack available somewhere on the island, you’re better off staying there! Terrible service, food, & management!!! The place is falling apart & they can care less about your experience. You will have the worst time if you choose to deal with this hotel. I booked this hotel back in February for my birthday in the end of April. Less than two weeks before my trip, the director of rooms, Carsten H., contacts me to let me know that they allowed a large group to buy out the hotel last minute for majority of our stay. However, he insisted that we stay atleast one day to experience the hotel & that we’d love it so much that we’ll be wanting to come back. Big mistake listening to him! When we arrived at the hotel, they couldn’t be bothered to welcome us like the “guests” we are. Very unorganized & unwelcoming. The rooms were damp & smelled like mildew. When the guest service rep, Rye-Anne, opened the balcony door to show us the view, the door handle literally fell off. They lied and stated they would try to find us another room - it never happened. They didn’t even bother to check on us the rest of the day. After a five hour flight & drive to the hotel - which is a pretty distance from the airport, we went looking for something to eat. We were told by the staff at the main restaurant that they were closed because they are getting ready to set up for their “other” guests. They informed us we can go upstairs & grab something to eat. When we got upstairs, they had cold old sandwiches in a fridge. Sorry, but I did not pay thousands to eat cold sandwiches especially not at a “luxury” hotel. We went back to our damp room to order room service - Shakil at room service stated that they could not bring us anything because they are shutting down for their other guest. He stated the restaurant will be open at 6pm and we will just have to wait until then. It was around 4:30pm then - so basically just sit around starving. When 6pm comes, we go down to the restaurant & was greeted by Coresha who explained all they had to offer was cold pizza, sushi, pasta, & burnt hamburgers. The burger was so burnt that we couldn’t even eat it. Another thing about this hotel, they rarely answer their phones. We called housekeeping to come get the food that we didn’t eat & bring us some extra towels for the damp room - no one ever came! The food literally sat outside the room all night - even when we got back from their lackluster breakfast in the morning, the food was still sitting there. Carsten promised complimentary transportation to our next hotel since they overbooked intentionally. He stated that it would be when we’re ready and “no rush.” When it came time, Latifah at the front desk stated that we need to be downstairs by 12pm for the shuttle & if not we will be left to figure things out on our own. It was already 11:30am when she informed us of this. She also stated that she would have a bell boy come up to assis

Very nice new hotel in Barbados. Spacious rooms with great view. I was positively surprised of the quality and selection of buffet food and drinks served during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The natural beach, by the hotel is breath taking.

This is a beautiful resort, I did not want to leave! I stayed in the zephyr suite and it was very nice, however, the website says that both balconies have ocean views, whereas only one balcony had this, and it was a partial ocean view. The website should be clearer, because I thought I was paying extra for that view. Additionally, the balcony floors and the furniture were not cleaned. I had to put down a towel to lay on the love seat outside, and use my outdoor slippers. I had issues with the air conditioner but I figured out that there are light switches to turn them on and off. I could’ve called the staff about it and I’m sure they would’ve taken care of it, but I’m not fussy like that. Other than that, the room was perfect. Very comfortable bed. I’m a terrible sleeper and I slept through the night each night. The spa tub was everything. I bathed in it every night. Some people complained that the toilet areas smell bad, which is true if you leave the door closed. Once you air it out, it’s perfectly fine. I loved the pool, and the beach. I walked down to the area where it was safe to swim and it was very nice. I loved the beach trees and the foliage and the nooks/caves to be explored! Management should ensure that day beds and lounge chairs are cleaned every night though, and have more staff working in the pool area so that drinks can come faster. There’s also no reason why a bar shouldn’t be set up on the beach. The castle was cool to look at, but the hotel should really do something with it. After all, it’s named after it! I wanted to look inside so bad. I suggest they reconstruct it with historical accuracy, to look like how it did when Sam Lord lived there, and make it like a museum. That would be awesome. I enjoyed the food, but menus at the non-buffet restaurants should have a few more options, and should have different options every few days. The sushi at the buffet was soooo delicious and fresh. I am very happy with the amount of healthy, fresh options available. Dinner at the Sam lord restaurant was delicious and the service was top notch. Julissa was my server both days I ate there and she was just so lovely and you could tell she had a lot of experience and exceptional training in hospitality. I notice that a lot of these reviews blame the staff for non-optimal service, however every single staff member I encountered was warm and welcoming. I did notice that some staff members were confused about what to do at certain points, or did not have adequate knowledge of, say, how to work the cooling system. It occurred twice at two different bars where I ordered a classic drink and they were missing an ingredient: rum bar was missing mint for mojitos, and pool bar was missing olives for martinis. Staff members were kind enough to go find the ingredients to make the drinks, but management is responsible for making sure that all kitchens and bars are fully stocked every day. This is a management issue, not the staff’s fault. The st

The resort, although not in full swing, is lovely! The common areas are large, grand, comfortable and tasteful. Guest rooms are very comfortable, they have a great design allowing for practical space and lovely bathrooms with two sinks - big walk in showers. Pools areas were lovely and dining great.
