La Siesta Classic Hang Thung

Hoan Kiem District Hanoi|0.19km from Vietnamese National Assembly
I recently stayed at La Siesta Classic Hang Thung for one night, and honestly, it wasn't enough! Hotel Property: 1. The hotel's location is great. It's right in the middle of Hanoi's Old Quarter, so you can easily walk to Hoan Kiem Lake and enjoy the lively atmosphere. 2. What's cool is that the hotel is only two months old and it looks amazing. The rooms are a good size, and the modern design is Instagram-worthy. It's pretty impressive they even squeezed in a pool in the middle of the tight Old Quarter spaces. Service 1. We got to the hotel really early from Sapa, and our rooms weren't ready, but Mr. VP at the front desk was super nice. He went out of his way to arrange a shower for us. It was a real help to get us cleaned up from the long train ride. 2. I accidentally booked a room for 3 persons when there was only 2 of us. Mr.VP immediately noticed it and upgraded us to a junior suite without us knowing. That was a pleasant surprise and definitely made our day. The Not-So-Great Stuff: There were a couple of small issues that could have made the overall experience even better. 1. We asked for more water and ice around 9 pm, but they never brought it. Eventually, we went out and buy water, and reminded the front desk to send some ice to the room. But even after reminding the front desk personally, no ice came all night. 2. Food at breakfast was good, but the service could he better. When we wanted to sit by the window, the server insisted that we sit at another table. She rolled her eyes at me when I told her that we prefer to sit by the window. She then cleared our table quite unwillingly. She just changed the cutlery but did not replace the used placemats. We didn't bother her after that as she seemed annoyed. But despite these minor hiccups, I'd definitely recommend La Siesta Classic Hang Thung to anyone looking for a great stay in Hanoi. It's a lovely place with pretty and clean rooms and lovely front desk staff.

Impressive entrance with a short walk to anything you might want/need in Hanoi. Check-in was a breeze when we arrived mid-afternoon. The lobby on Level 1 and restaurant on level 2 are opulent and well-served with competent and English fluent staff. The room I had was well presented, very clean and well-serviced. Great pillows!! Small, but functional bathroom with a great two-way shower. Money can be exchanged at reception at around market rate. The breakfast on level 2 has something for everyone. Vietnamese, western and excellent pastries. Fresh fruit and a great noodle bar. The wait staff and chefs are expert and can create pretty much anything on request. The room service menu is spartan but reasonably priced and well presented and delivered hot. Pasta, pizza, burgers and (of course) Pho. For those not familiar with Vietnamese coffee, fasten your seatbelt before trying. This beverage will wake the deepest sleeper in seconds. Concierge services are effective and non-intrusive. There is a mini-supermarket about 100 metres from the front door where you can find that razor you forgot amongst other necessities. This hotel is brilliantly located near the lake, which is a great location for a stroll. Within a five minute walk you can find pretty much anything that you can think of. There is a roof top bar and pool on level 10 and, to be honest, this was a little disappointing. The pool works, but the surrounds are a little tired and could do with an upgrade. Not a showstopper by any means. The lifts work, the electricity is 100% available and the wifi is fast and consistent. The laundry service is fast and reasonably priced. If you want to outsource laundry, there are several services available close by for USD$1.50 per kilo. My team of 3 stayed here for 12 days and very much enjoyed the facilities and hospitality. I would stay here again any day of the week!!

The service was good from the beginning to the end. We were nicely welcomed with a drink and fruit. The suitcases have already been taken to the rooms. The service was excellent, both helped with everything and the info of the city, as well as arranging transportation wherever we wanted. Even though it was evening. The food was buffet style and was also exquisite. Recommended!

Got in early in the morning and just looking for a place to book quickly. Owner was ”nice” enough to let me come in at 6:15 am. Upon entering my room, bed was hard, uncomfortable, air condition poor. I used the bathroom and quickly found a different hotel close by. Initially owner wanted to charge 500,000 vnd each night (outrageous considering the terrible room) but I talked him down to 400,000 vnd which was still too much for the ”quality”. I was in the room for maybe 15 minutes before finding another place and walked down to tell him I changed my mind. He seemed angry and said, I need to check the room. Ok, that's standard. Then he came back and said I owed him $5 (100,000 vnd) for using the toilet and sitting on the bed (the room has no chairs to use). I told him I'd give him 5,000vnd but even that was unreasonable. He said i was there for 30 minutes but I definitely was NOT. 15 at MOST. His justification was I sat on the bed. Unbelievable, where else was I going to sit? I didn't even mess up the sheets! We argued for about 5minutes eventually yelling at each other and he told me f@$# you, you're a dog. I slammed the 100,000 vnd on the table and he slammed my passport and curses were exchanged. This business needs to be shut down for poor practices, terrible service, and awful accommodation. Don't waste your money or time. You'll likely get hustled by this awful disrespectful man. Rooms not worth the price and nothing is worth the treatment I received.

Hotel serves with welcome drinks and snacks when we arrived. Excellent service! Especially receptionist Julie, she makes my days. She is fluent in English and helpful. She has cheerful smile. Besides, this is a nice beautiful French style hotel. Room is clean and tidy. I like the bar and restaurant. Breakfast is good with a nice lake view. Thanks for offering free massage service, it’s fantastic! Thanks for updating the room with a balcony! What a wonderful experience!

Don’t recommend the hotel. The room was on third floor and no Lift. The Night staff pretend as if does not understand English and is very rude in behaviour. There was no WiFi in room although in booking it says having WiFi. After complaining about it next day WiFi was on. Tour from hotel is for higher prices than neighboring travel service people offered. Toilet is so small so Be careful when seating on Toilet because knob of the water tap would be just 2 inches away from your eyes so any movement of your head while toileting may put you in to danger. In short don’t go for this hotel... even if it is free ...choice is yours...!!!! Better to stay at any Hostels in dormitories for $4-5 a day against I paid $20 per night.

The hotel is not big but it is adamantly clean. The surroundings are completely centered on travel destinations, so it is a place where you can come back without any burden even if you play late at night. I slept very cool.

The room is nice and clean. It is located in the busiest commercial district on the north side of Hoan Kiem Lake. It is very convenient to go out to the night market and eat snacks. The hotel also has a spa, but I didn't experience it.
