Pan Pacific Properties in Hanoi

Parkroyal hotel definitely gave me the best first time experience to Vietnam. Located right next to the lake and can easily reach most tourist locations in 15-20 minutes of car ride. The room was big and fully equipped with everything you need, from laundry to kitchen. The staffs were the most attentive I’ve seen. Some issues: the pool was not always warm and it’s not clear why. The gym did not have sanitizing wipes. The internet was poor in the bedroom. I like to play with my switch and I could only do it in the living room. The breakfast had good variety but a lot of the meat was kind of burnt and charred, which is unhealthy. There is terrible smog outside and it may not be wise to book a room with a view…because there would be no view.

I booked a West Lake view room on the 12th floor. The view was alright. The room was a bit small, as was the bed, and the bathroom was cramped. The hotel's location is excellent; you step right out to West Lake, and it's within walking distance to Tran Quoc Pagoda and Thang Long Imperial Citadel. Bus 146 is just 5 cash-fare stops away from the Old Quarter Night Market. There are plenty of small supermarkets and restaurants around the hotel, which is very convenient. The hotel has an indoor heated swimming pool, which is quite large and includes a jacuzzi. The pool opens at 6 AM, perfect for my morning and evening swims. The bar on the 20th floor offers great views; I stayed from 5 PM until after the lights came on at dusk, then headed straight to the Old Quarter Night Market for a late dinner.
