West Lake State Guesthouse

The State Guest House is the best place in Hangzhou to escape the holiday crowds! Boasting beautiful West Lake views, its reputation as Hangzhou's top garden is well-deserved! The healing power of the greenery is immense; both seniors and children were very happy! We had the Matsutake fried rice at Ziwei Hall twice – it was absolutely delicious! Stepping out of the North Gate, you get to enjoy the metasequoia scenery all to yourself! So many wonderful memories! Oh, and definitely don't miss Impression West Lake! For the first time, I truly felt that a hotel like this is worth every penny, no matter the cost! Hangzhou's magnificent beauty is perfectly reflected here! All the staff were incredibly nice, not cold as some reviews suggested. I must speak up for them; they are all young but each one is courteous and humble! I truly love it here!

I stayed in Building 3 and was very satisfied. I checked in May, right after it was renovated in February. I booked two rooms, and both had similar basic amenities: a coffee machine, an air purifier, and a Bluetooth speaker. They also featured USB charging, and one even had wireless charging. The bathrooms had separate wet and dry areas, and the rooms were odor-free and very clean. Every day, we received either cherries or blueberries. For those on a short trip who aren't looking for a super luxurious experience, this is perfectly adequate. The hotel's location is excellent, very close to Maojiabu and Viewing Fish at Flower Pond. If you want to visit Leifeng Pagoda, I recommend contacting their business car service. You don't even need to leave the property, as the complex is backed by Dingjia Mountain and surrounded by West Inner Lake on three sides. From Building 3, it's just a short walk to West Lake, where the sunrise is beautiful. You don't have to worry about oversleeping; the early birds will wake you up! In fact, it's not a far walk from Building 3 to Building 8, or you can call a shuttle car, which is very convenient. Overall, it's very suitable for slow travel or in-depth tourism, for your reference.

Satisfied. The service was excellent. The breakfast offered a rich variety of choices. The environment was perfect; the whole garden was filled with birdsong and floral fragrances, lush with green trees. The rooms were clean, tidy, and well-equipped. A top-notch review! If you're bringing elderly family members to Hangzhou, I honestly think this hotel is the undisputed number one choice. My mom was thrilled just seeing a few places Chairman Mao visited. Add to that the first-class views of West Lake's inner waters, and the stay was absolutely perfect. I stayed in Building 7, and the decor style was very much to my parents' liking. For dinner, we had the buffet at the hotel. To be frank, for the variety of dishes offered, the price was higher than other five-star hotels. However, the quality was excellent, so we were quite satisfied with the food. As a side note, why was the black tea at the buffet so incredibly delicious? I know Hangzhou is famous for its tea, but I was astounded by how good it was – absolutely amazing! Perhaps I just haven't experienced enough good tea before.

Came here due to its reputation. The garden environment is quite unique, right by West Lake, though it's a bit quiet. Breakfast was fresh. The room is a bit old, and the decor feels dated. The complimentary fruit was a thoughtful touch, even had cherries, forgot to take a picture.

Breakfast was served in Building 8, which offered a wide variety of dishes that were both light and delicious. The view from Building 8 was also the most beautiful. It was so pleasant to enjoy a meal while admiring the scenery. Truly befitting a state guesthouse, the service and quality were absolutely superb. Even the cleaning staff were incredibly polite and professional.

Staying at the State Guest House for the May Day holiday was absolutely the right choice! The location is incredibly convenient, right in the heart of the scenic area. You step out and you're surrounded by sights, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the hustle and bustle. The service was exceptionally thoughtful; everyone from the front desk to the housekeeping staff was smiling and helpful. They assisted with luggage and offered directions, paying attention to all the small details. The room was clean and comfortable, and the bedding was just the right firmness, ensuring a great night's sleep. Oh, and the hotel's 'Smiling Yangzi' photo spot is really picturesque! This kind of established state guesthouse truly stands out in terms of service and management. It just feels reliable and secure. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit!

Our last stay here was with my three-year-old daughter, my seven-month-old baby, and four elderly family members in Building 8. Ten years later, we returned with our two children, this time staying in Building 2. The West Lake State Guest House holds a special meaning for us. The hotel thoughtfully arranged a lakeside room with an absolutely stunning view. During our May Day holiday stay, they even gave us a cute little thermos as a gift. The extra bed and room service were both very prompt, even though the hotel was fully booked. I recommend the hotel's travel photography service. Although the photographer was constantly on the phone and seemed to be rushing, making it feel a bit like an assembly line, the locations and shots themselves were quite good, leaving us with wonderful memories.
