Hangzhou Hua Jia Shan Resort

1️⃣ Huajia Mountain Villa is a well-established hotel by West Lake, boasting an excellent location. As a local, I stayed for a two-night city getaway and truly believe that staying by West Lake is the best way to experience it. The hotel grounds are lush with trees and offer beautiful scenery, especially charming in spring. It's within walking distance to Yuhu Bay, Su Causeway, and Prince Bay. 2️⃣ The hotel often hosts conferences and receptions, and it's also a great choice for weddings. The breakfast is particularly commendable, with dishes neatly presented and expertly prepared by the chefs. Overall, it's very refined and thoughtfully done. 3️⃣ Our rooms, 2306 and 2307, were in Building 2, Azalea Tower, with garden views. We booked two rooms for three people. The facilities are a bit dated; the TV cable in room 06 needed repair, and the hairdryer in room 07 was an old model. While I don't expect a renovation, it would be great if the hotel could invest a little effort in upgrading the equipment. I highly recommend Huajia as a wonderful place to stay when visiting West Lake. 4️⃣ [Avoid this!] The hotel's travel photography partner, photographer Xiao Jie from Xiaowan Travel Photography, provided a very unpleasant experience. Here’s why: 1) At the scheduled time and location, the photographer was unreachable and nowhere to be found. 2) As a hotel travel photographer, the goal should be to capture the hotel's unique features, justifying the hotel's partnership. However, the photographer failed to choose distinctive backdrops. 3) The most frustrating part was being constantly directed to take photos on large asphalt roads! Asphalt roads! Seriously! The final photos were all half road, and despite all the effort, not a single one was kept! Comrade Xiao Jie, do you honestly think that in such a beautiful place as Huajia, taking pictures on asphalt roads looks good???!!! The circular framing didn't even consider obstacles like nearby chairs, resulting in mediocre effects, and the pose guidance was basically just 'spin your skirt.' I was traveling with my parents, so the guidance wasn't very helpful. Following a routine is fine, but please be more dedicated. 4) After purchasing the edited photos, I provided two rounds of revision feedback, but I didn't notice any color adjustments based on my suggestions. 5) Almost none of the shots captured the main building's distinctive large roof or the garden landscape towards Dongpo Tower, which I consider the hotel's most unique features. The close-up landscape shots could have been taken in any residential compound in Hangzhou. [They failed to capture Huajia's unique character, lacked skill and guidance, and the overall process felt half-hearted!] 6) After selecting the photos, the photographer, who was busy, ran back briefly. Upon hearing that I initially didn't want to buy the edited photos, he immediately ran off, leaving my family of three stranded! He didn't even explain how the photos would be sent. Later, when I agreed to buy the edited photos, we waited for him for about an hour, which could have been avoided if he had simply communicated how to send them instead of making us wait aimlessly! 7) I've participated in at least a dozen, if not dozens, of hotel photo shoots, and this was by far the worst! And then he had the nerve to ask for good reviews and praise! I was utterly speechless! [I strongly suggest that Huajia replace this travel photography partner and find a new collaboration! It would lead to much better promotional results!]

Hangzhou Huajia Mountain Villa is an excellent choice for those who prefer a quiet version of West Lake. Its location is superb, being very close to Yuhu Bay and Taizi Bay, and within walking distance of the West Lake scenic area. The check-in service was quite thoughtful, and the room decor was lovely. The villa grounds are extensive, and a morning stroll there is delightful. The breakfast buffet offers a rich selection, including many delicious local Hangzhou specialties. Overall, the experience was really great.

The Huajiashan Villa, built in 1958, served as a provincial guesthouse for foreign affairs, hosting dignitaries in a secluded and tranquil setting. It currently comprises Main Building 1 (Osmanthus Building) with balcony rooms, Building 2 (Azalea Building) with garden-view rooms, Building 3 (Narcissus Building), a new building with an executive lounge, and VIP Building 8. The villa is situated beside Yuguhu Bay on Santai Mountain Road, on the former site of Huiyin Temple (Goryeo Temple), originally built by Qian Liu during the Wu-Yue kingdom. Su Shi frequently visited when he served in Hangzhou. In 1996, during construction, a Ming Dynasty stone statue of Su Dongpo was unearthed at the site of the original temple's monastic hall, leading to the construction of Dongpo Pavilion. Emperor Qianlong, during his southern tour, once penned the line "Liuhuagang below Huajiashan," from which the name "Huajiashan" originated. I booked a balcony room package through Trip.com and was given room 1223 in the main building. It was spacious with a great view from the terrace, overlooking the restaurant, coffee bar, and lawn. The hotel is several hundred meters from the main gate, but a shuttle service is available. All staff members were polite and greeted guests proactively. There's no underground parking, but surface parking is fine on non-holiday weekdays. The all-day dining restaurant, Xinxingge, offers good views of the lawn. The breakfast buffet features a rich selection of Chinese and Western dishes. I didn't try lunch or dinner. They also offer afternoon tea, à la carte cakes, and coffee. I ordered coffee and three cakes, which were advertised as freshly made, but after a 20-minute wait, they turned out to be frozen.

Spent 3 nights and 4 days at Huajiashanzhuang and had a fantastic experience. **Check-in Experience** 🏨: Upon arrival, they upgraded my room type, which was a lovely surprise. The hotel facilities are quite comprehensive; hangers, a drying rack, and umbrellas were all provided. I especially have to praise the hairdryer – it's powerful and dried my hair in no time. The room was also very clean. I accidentally spilled some water on the bathroom floor, and when I wiped it with tissue, the tissue remained clean. As someone who's quite particular about hygiene, I was very satisfied. **Dining** 🍷: The hotel offers a complimentary buffet breakfast with a wide variety of both Chinese and Western dishes. The selection was diverse and never repetitive, and the food tasted great, meeting my expectations for a nutritious breakfast. Outside the restaurant is a large lawn, and it was lovely to sit outdoors enjoying breakfast and the beautiful scenery in the morning. **Environment** 🍃: It's a large garden-style hotel with excellent greenery, filled with birdsong and fragrant flowers. Outside, you'll find Santai Jingmeng, a famous scenic spot by West Lake. The path is lined with towering green trees and water, and the renowned Turtle Pond (Wuguī Tán) is nearby. On a clear day, you can even go boating 🚣🏻‍♀️ on the lake – it's incredibly pleasant. Besides Turtle Pond, there are many historical sites in the vicinity, such as the Martial Scholar Archway and the ancestral temple of Huang Gongwang, the artist of 'Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains,' known as Zǐjiǔ Cítáng. There's also a large Prince Bay Park nearby, perfect for hiking and flower viewing; I feel like you could easily spend a whole day just exploring this area. It's also very close to West Lake, about an 800-meter walk to Su Causeway. **Summary**: A very enjoyable travel experience. I'll definitely come back to Huajiashanzhuang if I get the chance.

Hidden deep within the West Lake scenic area, Huajia is truly tranquil and elegant. I originally chose this place because of the Hyein Goryeo Temple ruins built by Qian Liu, and unexpectedly encountered the cultural relics of Su Dongpo's official stone statue. The constantly flowing Yagu Spring in the garden shares the same source as Hupao Spring, showcasing a harmonious blend of nature and culture!

This hotel is my top choice every May Day holiday when I visit Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. The environment is beautiful. This time, I booked a room in the Narcissus building. The high ceilings inside give a great sense of space, and the floor service is excellent and very responsive. Breakfast is consistently delicious. I'll definitely be staying at the Huajia next year too.

Regarding the environment, as a natural oxygen bar covering 14 hectares of green space by West Lake, the hotel itself is a huge park. Kids can run around on the large lawn, encounter cute cats strolling leisurely through the estate, and even look for the protected Yagu Spring on the grounds, which is particularly wild and fun. In terms of service, my child lost a small toy during our stay, and the hotel helped us mail it back. We also switched rooms once, and they helped us move our luggage to the new room. We'll definitely stay here again!

The hotel's location is great, right by West Lake. The immediate surroundings are lovely too, you can even stroll around the gardens. The room was nice, and the bathroom wasn't small at all, plenty of space. The hot water was excellent; it was raining that day, so coming back for a long, hot shower in the evening was incredibly comfortable.
